Great stuff PCS!

I just went to the page, didn't at all read it but logged in instead...and now I can't seem to find the page again, as it just takes me straight to my orders pages to select one to upgrade. Was more just a point that I was going to read what you had to say about it (and also don't seem to be able to log out again on the main site either to see it that way).

That aside, a year and a half old, I might have to peruse the new section and see if my PC doesn't need a winter overhaul :)

I was thinking about upgrading ram from 4GB SAMSUNG DDR3 DUAL-DDR3 1333MHz
to 8GB,and graphics card to a GTX 670,but for the ram "No amendment options are available for this item."? and for the graphics card no option for the 670,it jumps from 580 to the 680.
(although it is offered as a second graphics card)
Does that mean I need to buy these from somewhere else or can I still buy from PCS and fit myself?

I call shenanigans! That or teething problems :)

More info on the website about the collect service would be nice.

It doesn't specify what state the PC must be in: Do you collect it and package it up or does the customer need to put it in a box for shipping? If so, tips on packaging your machine safely and conveniently would be very handy.

How long will the user be without computer?

It's the main thing preventing me from jumping straight in there :)

Edit: Both motherboard and SSD don't show up in the options - which in turn for example prevents upgrades to the CPU or Ram. It would also be handy if we could update the 'status' of our PC to reflect any updates we might have made ourselves. E.g. I upgraded the GPU from 2x 460 to 1x 670 myself as it wasn't yet possible through PCS, but I have no way to reflect this in the tool right now :) Hopefully this is useful feedback.

I imagine you would be expected to provide adequate packaging but there is an option on the upgrade configurator for PCS to supply you with packaging prior to you shipping your pc back.

You can also choose to install said upgrades yourself meaning you wouldn't need packaging and wouldn't be without your pc at all :)

Tempted to upgrade my 7870 to a 7970 either that or get a second 7870 added in. Decisions decisions! I can see this upgrading service being just as bad as if you were buying a new comp from PCS :p Lol.

I'd probably go for the single stronger card, but then again, its probably worth hanging on till next year to see what comes out then.

The number of options were limited at launch buy uou can now add the GTX 670. We're looking into the RAM option and we hope to have this listed soon.

Once you proceed an place the order all information is provided about packaging. You can order new packaging as part of the service if required.

How long will the user be without computer?

Information on how long the upgrade takes is available here: http://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/upgrade/

Both motherboard and SSD don't show up in the options - which in turn for example prevents upgrades to the CPU or Ram.

The service does not offer new cases or motherboards - it is designed to upgrade your PC based around your existing motherboard. If you're looking to purchase a new motherboard, CPU and RAM you should be considering purchasing a new computer rather than replacing components in your existing system.[/QUOTE]

It would also be handy if we could update the 'status' of our PC to reflect any updates we might have made ourselves. E.g. I upgraded the GPU from 2x 460 to 1x 670 myself as it wasn't yet possible through PCS, but I have no way to reflect this in the tool right now

We have considered this and maybe this is something we will implement in the future.

Would we be able to get smaller items such as ram, delivered via royal mail at a cheaper price? Just as DPD is a tad overkill for two ram sticks? I'd be happy to pay a few quid less on delivery even if it meant waiting a few days.

Seconded, PCS posted something to me royal mail and I think I was charged £1, I think it came the next day as well
