This isn't available to all customers though, so a customer like myself can't benefit from this option.

Not too happy about that.

Aye PCS have said in another thread there was a limit to how 'young' your PCS pc had to be before it could not be upgraded in this manner. I would guess partly because they do not offer motherboard upgrades through this service (I don't think) and older machines often require this to get the latest parts.

Bit of a shame though I guess.

Why does the upgrade configurator only give me the option to upgrade to the following:

8GB Samsung Dual-DDR3 1600MHz (2 x 4GB)

I currently have:

4GB Samsung Dual-DDR3 1300MHz (2 x 2GB) and thought I could just add 2 more 2GB sticks, which would be cheaper than buying 2x 4GB and "binning" the old 2GB sticks.

Seems to be a hit or a miss with ram upgrades,I don't even get the option ,guess it's best to phone them.

We've amended the upgrade system now to consider the memory slots left free on your motherboard and listed the additional memory options for all customers. :)

Still no option for me,with desktop or my laptop.

It's because your laptop only supports DDR3 1333MHz and we only stock 1600MHz now. Both slots are occupied.

As for your desktop - we've looked into why no option was showing and fixed this too. :)

You still do the 1333 for desktops though, is that correct?

Is there much difference between 1333 and 1600MHz, and would it be worth upgrading for my system?

I have the option to add 2 x 2GB 1333MHz for £27.00 (making a total of 8GB)

OR

2 x 4GB 1600MHz for £53.60 (again 8GB, but I would have 2 slots spare)

What would you guys recommend?

I would go for the 2 x 2GB 1333MHz for £27.00,that's what I'm going to do anyway. :)

Will we see much benefit do you think?
I think I'll see some benefit as I do quite a bit of multitasking on two monitors, not all that convinced it will improve on gaming though to be honest, but I'm hoping it helps to keep things running smooth.

Hi there PCS!!
I was wondering - if you send your laptop in to have the OS, RAM and 2nd HD added will it:
a) affect the monthly laptop cover insurance - will this have to be repurchased?
b) remove the Microsoft Office 2010 Starter previously installed FREE on date of original laptop build?

Hi Sharmane, it your laptop cover will only be for the price you originally paid, so any modifications will not be covered. If we were to install an operating system now, we can only install a 30 day trial of office 365.
