I got my build from PCS with it OC back in march.

I just ran OCCT cpu linpack, set it up correctly and it failed temp reached 93c, max was set at 92c

when i run aida64 FPU it passes after 1hr and temps reach only 80c

can anyone explain why the difference and also why it failed

I'm probably confused because I don't use the programs you're referring to however, did you not explain that it failed because it got to 93 degrees and you'd set the max to 92?

There could be many reasons why one benchmark produced a higher temp than another, its possible (without knowing the programs I cant say for use) that one is more stressful than the other. Its also possible (and imo more likely) that the room temperature might have been different which will have had an affect on your cooling.

What CPU cooler do you have?

Well something is serious wrong it only took 1 min 55 sec to reach 93c then failed. I think the OC is to high for the cooling system!

If that was the case, surely the other benchmark would have failed too?

Have you ran it more than once? If so, did it fail in the same way again?

Yes ran occt twice and still failed.

its possible aida64 developers may have toned down their FPU load tests where OCCT uses the latest revisions of AVX instructions, the same as PRIME95.

If you're comfortable changing some of the OC settings you could try to tweak it slightly (lowering voltage etc.) to see if you can keep the same overall clock speed but produce less heat.

Alternatively, you could contact PCS (as they put the OC settings on for you I think??) and they can point you in the right direction :)

It is odd that it shot up to 92 degrees from idle in 90 seconds though. That is a bit severe.
