Poll: Is the PCS build quality really as bad as is made out on these forums?

Did you have to contact PC Specialist Technical Support within the first month?

I am sure there are much more happy PCS customers than unhappy ones. However, it is the unhappy ones that we read about. Hence the reason for this poll question, to give a better indication of the PCS build quality. Should be interesting.

So here is the question with a simple 'yes' or 'no' answer.

Did you have to contact PC Specialist Technical Support within the first month of your new build PC arriving for anything, which you would put down to their negligence?

No

Editing for Great Justice!: The poll will show if people had to contact PCS. It will give no valid or relevant indication of build quality, because there are umpteen reasons why things go wrong in the first month, let alone over the life of a PC. I won't list them, but "build quality" is just one of many, and going on how we observe over a long period of time how the problems with PCS machines get resolved, I would put only a handful if any down to that specific issue.

Not actually sure what you hope to achieve with the poll/thread to be honest.

Your probably going to have the same situation again here.

The number of people who have bought a new machine and are quite happy probably never come here or even joined the forums.

The number of Yes's and no's would not be a true reflection of the majority of customers.

Nice thought though.

It is to give an indication of the the quality assurance procedures at PCS. It is not a hard and fast 100% accurate poll but it will give an indication. If you look at the question again is says "which you would put down to their negligence?". This would not be a GPU failing after 2 weeks. This would be your PC not starting when you first get it, or incorrect BIOS settings entered, or a loud noise when first started. Things that you read on here daily. For every one of these people who post I am sure there will be 100's who are wholly satisfied with there purchase and never need to contact PCS again after they receive it. Lets see in this poll! As long as everyone is honest anyway.

Also I am sure if people as extremely happy with their purchase they too will post to tell others.

Any poll of this nature conducted on here would have totally unreliable data.

The only poll that would be of value is one conducted by PCS themselves via a customer survey and even then, i could guarantee that not everyone would complete it.

So if you are "sure" there are more happy than unhappy customers and also state that the unhappy ones are the vocal ones, then isnt this whole thread moot?

I had to contact them because one of the fans on my CPU cooler didn't work. I have no idea how it wasn't spotted in testing. The cable wasn't loose or anything :/

Anyway, they sent another one out pretty much that day and it all worked. I felt quite happy to fit it myself, but not sure if others would have.

I found it decent service tbh.

My only other issue was the NIGHTMARE I had with drivers that caused various black screens.. etc... but that wasn't PCS' fault.

I didn't have to contact them until nearly a year later, both sticks of ram just died at the same time.
I found their service very good, the guy on the phone asked me if I was happy looking inside the computer, clearly explained all the diagnosis that he wanted me to do, when we still couldn't find the issue he sorted the Rma and I had it back, working, within a week.

Why would it be "moot"? You have misinterpreted my comments, perhaps as this is something you might not want the answer to if it ends up a poor result for PCS? If everyone on this forum was unhappy with PCS then it would be a very depressing forum. Its not, it has lots of positive comments, some also negative too though. Lets just see how it goes as there is a large mix of people here. The positive or nagative PCS experiences can also be voiced here with the click of a button rather than a long post.

I personally haven't had to. Like others have said, people who are happy with their machines probably haven't come near the forums since they received them, people who are currently having issues probably won't hesitate to slate them on the forums.

The only way to get 'reliable' data from a poll would be for PCS to send out an email to all previous customers asking for feedback similar to your question. They already sort of do this though with the free USB stick if you leave a review on trustpilot (good or bad) so people should already have a good idea from that: http://www.trustpilot.co.uk/review/www.pcspecialist.co.uk

Well one thing we can be sure of is this...

If this poll stays the way it is at the moment then you will be able to say that the vast, vast majority of PCS builds pass without incident. It's currently 80/20 in favour of 'no' but it is still early yet and that can change very quickly, but if it stays at a similar ratio it will be quite surprising to me as you are pulling from a heavily biased set of data.

Will be interesting to see where this goes...

I too am interested to see how this turns out.

I voted no because although I did contact them for an RMA it was for a third party peripheral :). It's an interesting question though, I'm not sure of its value but it should certainly spark some interesting discussion.

Same as other, whatever the results is not representative. You want to check how good pcs is check trustpilot or other review sites. I don't think this is going to bring any significant results.

As already mentioned I can't see a Poll like this achieving or proving anything and could also cause contention,in my opinion it isn't really appropriate for the forums anyway,so I think this thread should be closed.
