Just a bit of a grumble.

In another thread, I posted a link where some one could source an alternative standalone GPU that a moderator edited out.

"With the limited scope for upgrading and swapping out the GPU, you could save a bit more on reducing the PSU.
Did you buy your existing PC from PCS? You could go down the upgrade route on the original order instead.

Edit by mod: no links or advertising for competitor sites please"

How is this different from the many links or advertising to alternative sites for monitors or suggestions to obtain peripherals cheaper elsewhere that are regularly posted by more active posters?

I don't know what the link was to but if you're linking to a direct competitor it wouldn't be allowed for any component or peripheral and if noticed by a mod it should also be deleted in my opinion.

A link to somewhere like, Amazon for example or one of the PC Specialist re-sellers (Currys for example) is usually allowed.

So to clarify my point (if needed) - I expect it wasn't the component that was the issue, but rather the website/company you linked too.

If the mod who saw the original post see's this they may come along to clarify also.

It was myself that edited it out and yes it was a link to a direct competitor which is not allowed and in fact it was also advertising that you could get the item from there and advertising for competitors is most definitely not allowed I'm afraid.

Noting that as @steaky360 said, links to places like Amazon, Currys, and also manufacturer websites are fine as well
