Printer problem

Changed printers from a canon mx 725 to an HP 2700 installed in 30 minutes but then half way through a print run printing stopped having suddenly gone offline. 1), Why is this and 2). why when looking in printer settings were details of the previous canon printer on display with no mention of the recently installed HP printer ???

Are you connected to the printer by WiFi? Does the network have 2.4 and 5 GHz bands that it connects to? If the computer changes to a stronger signal/band then it could be that the printer is on the previous band and therefore disconnects. I have found just limiting the connection to one band for the computer, as well as the printer, solves the problem. Also assigning a fixed IP address to the printer helps.

If you didn't uninstall the previous printer then it would still show as a device.

I am sure that someone more knowledgeable will be along shortly with a better idea of what the problem is.

As above, how are you connecting to the printer?
Did you uninstall the old printer and drivers first?
Is the old printer still online to the PC at all (cable or wireless)?
When you installed the new printer, from where did you get the drivers?
Is the new printer set as the default printer?
