Probably a GPU malfunction

Hi there,

From the start, let me just say that I am not a pro and my pc knowledge is limited. I recently got my PC specialist computer and yesterday I noticed my motherboard was giving me one long and then three quick beeps while booting. It is supposedly an error code for GPU (in my case its RTX 3080). I haven't noticed any problems so far, my games perform great, I have not encountered any issues at the moment, but obviously something is not right.
I did a Nvidia driver update, restarted the computer and everything seemed fine. Today after work I switched my PC on and the same beep code appeared.
I did a quick Furmark stress test, checked my MSI Afterburner for temperatures and performance.
Any ideas what could be the problem?

Been mentions regarding monitor with similar posts to this, what cable are you connecting the monitor with and is it switched on when you turn on the PC (not in sleep either).

Can also physically reseat the GPU, just in case its not in properly, but if not seen any other signs/symptoms, it could be an "error" for not detecting the monitor during initial start up

Hi, thanks for quick response. I have a LG CX Oled display connected with HDMI 2.1 cable, and yes, usually when I switch my PC on I start the monitor later, but it is the first time I hear that beep at the start.

I had this happen with my recent build. The only time it happened was when the monitor was switched off when the PC started and it hasn’t happened since I made sure the monitor was on before starting up.

From what spyder was saying, its not a fault as such, its like a false positive.
Start up checks saying it cant detect monitor due to the order it checks stuff and the equipment being used. I think he said DP avoids it, but so should just ensuring the monitor is on and awake when starting up.

Give it a go see if it makes a difference?

I am pretty sure I connected my monitor via DP. I don’t view this as a fault or problem As it is simple to work around. My monitor displayed correctly once it had started up, but there was a light on the motherboard that is not usually seen.
