Query over geforce 555M GPU

Hi,

A little checking on the Internet shows a lot of issues with the 555M GPU which features in the 15.6" Optimus II range of laptops. This laptop is for my son to play less demanding games (WoW for example) and I see gamers posting GPU issues which seem related to the Optimus power saving feature of the chip. Anyone out there found this not to be the case? Much obliged.

I've been using mine for a few months now, and I've been playing some quite demanding games with no issues at all. Optimus seems to work fine. Just a note though, it only works on Windows 7, on other operating systems it just runs the dedicated graphics card and there's no switching (it's a software thing).

You can switch Optimus on and off with the switch on the Optimus II laptops, and if that doesn't work, you can use the NVIDIA control centre to manually select that a certain game (or other program) should run on the dedicated graphics card instead of the integrated Intel graphics.
