Very quick delivery time. Windows couldn't be activated automatically so I had a long wait on the phone to speak to a specialist (expected in the current circumstances), but once answered he was very helpful, informative and resolved it in minutes. Laptop is great, perfect for purpose.

Glad you're happy. Did you order a Windows license with it or did you activate the testing system that was on there?

It was ordered with it. The specialist sorted it in no time though. I can't remember why he said it wasn't activating - the licence key was correct I believe but for some reason it wasn't automatically activating. On another note, I have just entered my licence key yesterday for my Office package but it won't seem to activate either - something about not finding the server. It's an old 2016 Home and Student package so I'm not even sure if it is still supported for new activations or if you can have it on multiple devices. It's allowing me to continue for 29 days but if it can't connect to the server over that period, it will not be useable afterwards. Can anyone shed some light on this for me please?

If you ordered Windows with the computer you will not have needed a license key at all. OEM Windows 10 uses a code burned into the BIOS to let the Microsoft Activation servers know that this computer has a valid Windows license. It should have activated itself within a few minutes of you completing the initial setup.

What Windows key did were you using? That sounds all very strange to me....

I can't help with the MS Office activation. I would instead suggest you switch to OpenOffice or LibreOffice (but never have both installed at the same time!). They can read (and write) in MS Office format and they're free!

Did you have the trial of office 365 included, if so maybe a conflict between the 2 office versions?

Maybe have a read of this

Who provided the license? Was it direct from microsoft or was it a university license? If it was university are you still attending?

It would have been bought directly. It's my sister in law's licence as the laptop was bought for my niece. She will still be using it too but I would have thought with it being Home AND student that you could have it on multiple devices, though I'm not sure about this.

Yes, I'm aware it should have activated automatically. The key was a digital one as per usual these days but for some reason it wasn't activating automatically. Like I said though, PC Specialist sorted that for me and very quickly.

On the licensing page, there should be an option for phone activation, this will give you a number to call Microsoft, they’re very good and will get this resolved for you. And yes, I would have thought you’d be able to install it on at least 3 devices.

Thanks. Yes, I did see this, but I don't share your optimism with regards to dealing with Microsoft over the phone. I hope you are right.
