Quiet PC

Hello. I am going to be buying a new PC at some point in the next 1 - 6 months (waiting for the high end AMD 6000 GPUs to come out).

I really want to make a PC which is quiet during non-gaming activities. With that in mind I will obviously want a water cooling CPU cooler, an SSD drive and a quiet power supply.

Can any of you guys recommend which of the PC Specialists' power supplies are the quietest ? I know they only have a few brands. Sub <850 watts.

I would recommend one of the Corsairs if you are going for a high end GPU, they are less likely to suffer from coil whine. As far as the PSU's go they are all much of a much when it comes to noise, the best thing to do is to get the Sileo 500 if your wanting to cancel out noise.

The Cosmos 1000 is by no means a quiet case, the foam on the side is ineffectual at best, i had to remove the foam on mine and replace all the fans to make mine silent.

Of the cases we sell, the Sileo is the most effective at reducing noise.

Ooh I didn't know that, seems like the case isn't really good for anything then >.<
How many computers do you currently own?

At the moment, just the 3, my main rig has been in about 7 different cases though!

Gotta try them all!

I had been thinking about the Cosmos 1000, although I hadn't factored in the cost of building an house extension to fit it in! ;-)

For the want of a quiet life I've now switched attention to the Sileo 500 case.
- But with the lack of fans, how is this case for keeping cool?

I'm getting a GTX470, SSD boot + 2 data HDs, i7, and probably the 'super quiet 22dba' cooler.
I 'may' think about getting a 2nd GTX470 and SSD drive next year, so may need a 1000W Corsair PSU.
- This all fits into the case, BUT what are folks recommendations/thoughts on how hot this monkey would run in the Sileo?

I ran my I7 system in the Sileo along with a GTX280 (same temps as a 470 really) and had no issues with temps at all, I did not notice any difference between that case and the Cosmos 1000 when it came to temps.

As long as you have good flow from the front to the back, the amount of fans isnt really an issue.
