Looking at purchasing this: Vortex Spectrum - https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/computers-for-next-day-delivery/1120/ directly from PCS and avoiding any middle men altogether. Getting this message when clicking "proceed" :::
"We've checked your specification for compatibility. Please consider our advice below before proceeding:
  • Due to the limitations of the motherboard you have selected, the M.2 SSD Drive will be restricted to 1000MB/s Read and 800MB/s Write."
Is this any good for gaming??

Ooooo, no no no, please run a mile from that. It's not a gaming computer pure and simple and would quite frankly suck for almost any use apart from basic web browsing.

What do you want the computer for and what's your max budget?

Thanks Spydertracks. It's wanted for gaming but unfortunately the budget is limited to £700. Initially ordered the Tornado R3 via Currys but that's not happening now (fault with pc - subsequently returned)

I'm afraid to say with things as they are a £700 budget and even the most basic gaming PC are about £500 apart

We could probably just about scrape something for around £900 but even that would be making compromises.

It's just the way it is at the moment with Covid and worldwide shortages, builds are about £300 more expensive than they normally would be.

It's just not possible to build anything remotely worth it at the moment at that budget.

OK thanks guys. Appreciate your help. Back to the drawing board for now - I may have to look at other brands. I want a pc ready made as not confident in building one from scratch.

PCS are a system builder, the build comes fully assembled, it's just there's no way currently you'd be able to get something worthwhile at that budget, from PCS or anywhere else, you'd be looking at second hand really for anything worth it.

This PC smells rotten already. For gaming you want a PC for current games and the ones will be released in future. It means, newer and more expensive parts. Unfortunately, due to high demand, currently gaming PC prices would start somewhere from 1300 papers with the Queen's pictures.

Not to create an even bigger echo in here but PC's are expensive right now. Demand is high and supply is low, forcing up prices. Also NVIDIA haven't relased their XX50 card yet which is the most entry level PC Gaming card they do. Today, this is the minimum I'd recommend for a somewhat solid futureproof build that won't be a throwaway, unlike the PCS PC you've linked. For this PC, you could go for the PCS Spectrum RGB case which is cheaper by about £15, but it's not currently showing on the site (assume it's out of stock) so had to go for the 220T for now.

If you're able to wait, I'd highly recommend it. Prices will fall and new cards will come out, decreasing the price you'll be paying. If you're unable to wait, going to a corporate System Intergrator (think the brown sauce bottle and the like) might be your best chance of getting a somewhat capable PC for your budget.
