Realities of online marketplaces, know your seller

I've harped on about this quite a lot because a lot of people don't appreciate that aside from Amazon direct, Amazon marketplace is exactly like eBay, anyone can spin up a company and sell whatever they like.

We've got a few posts about fake license sales on places like amazon but it stretches through to almost any product. Be aware of what you're buying and from who, do your due diligence, don't use marketplace unless you trust the listed seller.

Also be aware how easy it is to garner hundreds of fake 5 star reviews within a matter of hours.

...and use a bit of common sense. After all, do you really believe a (for example) 16TB SSD would be sold for £100???

The other thing to be aware of, and there's no simple way to stop it, is when there are both genuine & dodgy marketplace sellers offering the same product, and using Amazon to fulfil orders. Amazon will often store all of the same product, from multiple vendors, into the same bin in the warehouse...and when you get a dodgy item the seller will end up losing out through no fault of their own.
