Recoil 15.6"

Ten years ago I picked up a desktop from PC Specialist. Back then I recieved first class service, and the machine exceeded all my expectations. Over the years, they helped me with upgrading and maintaining the PC, so when it was time to replace my old computer it was an easy decision to return to PCS.

Specs:
Recoil Series
15.6" Matte Full HD 240Hz 72% NTSC LED Widescreen (1920x1080)
Intel® Core™ i7 Eight Core Processor 10875H
32GB Corsair 2666MHz
GeForce® RTX 2070 SUPER
2TB SAMSUNG 970 EVO PLUS M.2

I decided to move back to owning a laptop, as portability was one of my requirements. I also wanted something with a high enough spec to last a while. The Recoil IV was therefore a good compromise to both these needs.

The laptop itself is not too chunky and still a sensible weight. The power supply, however is a bit of a brick. This is neither here-nor-there for me in all honesty but important to remember if you're trying to keep the weight down when travelling. Although only a 15" laptop, it does have a full keyboard with numerical pad, and the keys feel very comfortable. The customisable backlight is quite useful, especially as every single key can individually changed.

The fan noise if extremely high, although I suspect this is down to the 2070 Super and only when the PC is running at full whack. When simply browsing the net or other basic task it is fairly quiet. With a good set of headphones, this is not an issue (unless you have an unforgiving partner intent on watching something on TV whilst you kill zombies, robots or soldiers). Battery life is pretty good all said and done.

In terms of performace I've been getting excellent frame rates on pretty much everthing I've tried so for - RDR2, Generation Zero, Project Cars 2 - all smooth and clear. Load times with the Samsung 970 Evo Plus have been extremely fast.

Something that I have to note - one of the 16gb chips was faulty when the PC arrived. After I tested to find out which one, PCS immediately couriered out a replacement for me to swap over. Everything is fine, and their speed and help rectifying this was fantastic.

I would absolutely recommend the Recoil for anyone looking for something that is powerful but still portable. PCS have once again been fantastic, and couldn't imagine buying a PC from anyone else.

Nice overall review! I'm considering getting the recoil once I have the money for it and after reading this review/impression. I think it has solidified my decision for the future!

I have a very similar build arriving tomorrow. I'm going to be buying a different power supply because the ones supplied by PCS are unreasonably heavy - 1.5kg whereas ones weighing 1kg or less are the usual that would be supplied with a laptop requiring a 230W or 240W power supply.

I've seen others commenting on making changes to the power settings to quiet the fans. The CPU and GPU will run hotter, but still within limits and with minimal loss in performance.

Hi, how is it going? Did you have any problems whatsoever?

Yeah, several problems. The top and bottom of the machine get really hot (> 50 degress celsius) and when I reported a bug in the Gaming Center software the suggestion was to reinstall Windows.
