Got my PC Specialist Recoil II 17.3" RTX 2070 today.

These are my out of the box 3D Mark Graphics Scores:

Firestrike 1080p - 19398
Firestrike Extreme 1440p - 9112
Firestrike Ultra 4k - 4468
Time Spy 1440p - 7517

No thermal throttling on the CPU or GPU.

I'm very happy with it, the 3D Mark scores on my overclocked 1070 Ti desktop that I replaced with this laptop were only about 10% higher. I'm sure with a mild OC on the 2070 GPU I may be able to get closer.

Great laptop!

Definitely worth the money, being one of the cheaper RTX models out there, haven't played those games specifically though

Presumably because of the danger of overheating in a laptop?
Desktops too apparently
https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?3284-Warranty-When-Overclocking!

I'm no expert in overclocking and especially not the history of overclocking but the policy does strike me as very odd for modern GPUs, especially Nvidia GPUs, where the cards are so locked down for what you can do to them that it's going to be quite a challenge to damage the thing.

I can kind of get it in a laptop context where the GPU's usually soldered on and maybe the heat might start cooking other things on the mobo(?) or maybe the VRM really isn't good enough(?). But yeah, I don't get it for desktops.

Hi roakes !
Do you have any comments about the computer temperature? I am about to order a Recoil 17.3 RTX 2070 but I don't find much feedback on the temperature of the computer and its components after intensive use.
Thanks !

It runs nice and cool, both the CPU and GPU sit around 70-80 under load, especially after applying a -125 undervolt to the CPU. FYI, the CPU comes with a -50 undervolt out of the box, which was a nice discovery.

I ordered mine with the cooler master thermal paste too, so take that into consideration, and I have it on a laptop stand so it can breathe.

Hi guys, finally had some time to run some benchmark on my Recoil II 17.3" RTX 2070, using basic 3Dmark I'm getting score barely above 6000 in Time Spy with CPU hitting 96 degrees, while comparable machines get more than 7000 easily. Should I consider returning this unit?

Same here, I get 5977 on Time Spy and GPU max temperatures are around 63-67 on max load, seems that the gpu have power limited or something, temeperatures on max load are to low. CPU temperatures are around 75-85 on max load with some undervolt.

Could you run HWinfo 64 and check the averages for clock speed and temperature during Firestrike and Timespy runs? You may want to hit the reset on HWinfo immediately before the benchmark run so the averages don't include idle clocks and temps.

Oh and let us know the GFX and Physics scores for both as well as the overall score?

I haven't got my physics scores, but these are my most recent overall and gfx:

Firestrike Score: 16903
Firestrike GFX Score: 19401
Time Spy Score: 7560
Time Spy GFX Score: 7766

That's with a -150 mV CPU core and -125 mV cache undervolt and a GPU undervolt capping the clock at 1545mhz at 725 mV. With those settings if I run both Unigene Heaven and Aida64 CPU stress test at the same time, I get these results:

Avg CPU Temp: 91c
Avg CPU Clock: 3890mhz
Avg GPU Temp: 69c
Avg GPU Clock: 1545mhz

These are the numbers after Time Spy benchmark. I noticed the Gpu scores are the same as a 2070 max-q version, the clock speed average is around 1000Mhz and max temperatures are 65ºc on max load. Also when I Unplug the charger the gpu clock locks at 300Mhz and time spy runs at 5 FPS.

What do you have selected on the Power Settings and System Monitor screens on Gaming Centre?

Game center: game mode
power settings: high performance
Nvidia control panel: prefer max performance

All test programs like MSI Afterburner, HWinfo 64 and gpu-z says performance limit: Power

What are your Timespy graphics and physics scores? Just to see if both GPU and CPU are down clocking which might suggest a power profile issue

No Undervolt here, with cpu undervolt -125 i can get around 6000-6300 but only increases cpu score not gpu.
Can be a vBIOS problem?
