The laptop was ordered on 11/03/2019 and I received it on 15/03/2019.
Externally, the product arrived intact, the only flaw was that one of rubber foots had been thinner than the others: the laptop wobbled, but I solved unmount and repasting the piece adding some thickness.
Another negative thing: some screws was not properly tightened, but obviously it was only an operator's distraction.
External features:

  • Display: visually fantastic, with great colours and very high luminosity.

  • Keyboard: despite all negative comments that I read, I found the pseudo-mechanical keyboard very comfortable and relatively silent compared to a truly mechanical one.

  • Chassis: it keep some fingerprints, but is solid and strong.

  • Cooling: really well studied for a laptop of these dimensions.
Internal features:

  • Processor: obviously the i7 8750H is, computationally speaking, one of the best high-level processors on the laptop market.
Unfortunately it suffer from high temperatures, and because this I applied a -0.120 undervolt (directly from the BIOS settings) to avoid reaching over 85/85 Celsius degree during extreme-effort conditions.
For extreme-effort conditions I mean (after undervolt):
- Metro Exodus Epic Settings (No RTX) - min75? max85?;
- Ark Survival Evolved Epic Settings - min65? max75?;
I tested higher values of undervolt, but I noticed freezing, so I concluded that -0.120v is the maximum bound settable on my machine, without problems.
It must be said that the six-core-twelve-threads-based processor generally doesn't be 100% exploited from games software, which doesn't entirely optimize concurrency and parallelism, so it is normal in gaming to notice these temperatures.
In other contexts the laptop is very efficient, it doesn't show any sign of effort or high temperatures. An example is the combination of these applications open simoultaneosly:

  • macOs Mojave virtualized with 6GB of ram open in window (virtualbox), with Xcode open;
  • Opera browser downloading system updates;
  • Installation of Android Studio.
In this case I noticed a maximum of 60% usage of the CPU (balanced mode). I didn't any other checks during heavy-utilization session, so this is the only example.

  • Video card: until now, I noted a maximum of 70 Celsius degree during the previous explained gaming sessions.

  • Chassis temperatures: during gaming session the upper bar (in wich there are the turbo fan and the on/off buttons) reach rapidly high temperatures. The lower part, on the right of the touchpad (in which I think there are the 7200rpm HDD) becomes warm. These temperatures are obviously a compromise to be accepted for the price, the very thin dimensions and even the 2.1kg weight of this gaming laptop (withouth however needing a Nvidia MAX-Q graphic depotentiation).

  • Cooling system: during the previous explained gaming sessions, the fans quickly turned on, manteining a medium-hig speed. Obviously, with settings optimization, it is possible to obtain lower fans' speed and temperatures. Generally fans are louder, but as I said before, it is the price to pay for thin dimensions with high-level components.
During normal utilization, fans turn on only with low speed in some case, but generaly they are silently.
General considerations:
The value for money is great, it is impossible to find the components of this RECOIL at a price of around 1500eur by looking in the catalogs of other famous manufacturers. With RECOIL II RTX I didn't have to compromise components with total price.

Thanks for the excellent review. Personally I would write back to PCS about the wobbly foot and loose screws issues. That's just not acceptable and it's not the quality build that (I hope) PCS strive for. However, unless customers tell PCS that these problems are happening they will never know and they won't get corrected. :)
