Removing my keyboard help needed

Hi,

I have this laptop which I purchased from PC Specialist all the way back in 2015.

Chassis & Display Cosmos Series: 17.3" Matte Full HD LED Widescreen

My keys are starting to get more difficult to press and I want to take the entire keyboard out to clean and hopefully fix, if not buy a repleacemnt keyboard. I did email PC Specialist but they replied telling me they don't have instructions anymore for my model because its too old.

I am sure I can just pop the keyboard out and I am sure that this chassis/casing is a bog standard one, but the only name I can find is cosmos which is a PC Specialist brand (I think)

I am including a picture of the laptop and hope someone out there can help me. It would be v v appreciated :)

There should be a label on the underside with the Clevo model number, if you post that we can find some youtube guides or something on taking the keyboard out.

Thanks for the quick reply Spyder. Attaching some more Pictures. I hope these might help to identify it.

As above you want the underside label that says Clevo and gives a model number.

I removed one of your photos as it looked like it was showing the Windows licence key.

There should definitely be something on the bottom of the laptop showing the power requirements of the chassis and the input voltage as indicated above. I have never seen a laptop that doesn't have this information.

Usually if you take the bottom panel off there is a screw to release the keyboard. This needs to be identified and the easiest way of doing this is the manual. Once that's removed the keyboard should prise out gently from the top edge. A small screwdriver with a piece of masking tape over it often works well for this.

Could you take a picture of the bottom of your laptop with the battery out? Edit out your license key before sending.

He did give that a go, might have more luck over the phone though :sneaky:

Just to report, the manual spydertracks linked worked for my laptop.

Scotster I think the reason I don't have the voltage info on the bottom is I sent my laptop in for repair of the casing little over a year ago....I guess they forgot to stick it on.

Thanks everybody for the help

Excellent, glad it's sorted!

Thanks for letting us know, always nice when someone's put back on the road to working glory :)

BTW, if you need a replacement keyboard, PCS will have some in stock I would have imagined.
