I´m using Arnold. I am trying to build a tower mainly for rendering because I already have quite a powerfull laptop for modeling.

Just a thought, have you looked at a beefier cooling solution for rendering?

say H115i RGB or similar.

Definitely Nvidia then. They don't support AMD cards.

Plus, for around the same cost as the 5700XT you could get the 3070 which is almost twice as powerful plus has Tensor cores for additional processing power.

You would need the H115i Platinum as a minimum on that processor.

The build in general isn't particularly well balanced. What's your maximum budget?

I´m using Arnold.

How does he feel about that?

Do you mean the 2070? I can´t find a 3070.
I´m trying to stick to a 1500 euro budget excl. IVA (VAT)
The H115i Platinum is the top processor cooler on pcspecialist. But you said it´s minimum requirment?
Thanks for feedback, much appreciated.

To decide what GPU and CPU you should get depends on whether the GPU or CPU is better for rendering in Arnold for your projects. If you aren't sure, you might want to check on an Arnold forum to see which is better for your needs. Either ask directly or search to see if someone has asked before.

CPU/GPU bottlenecks aren't an issue for 3D rendering, so they don't have to be balanced.

If the CPU is best, you may not need a decent GPU at all. If you have an old GPU already, you could put that in for the time being, then get a 3070 in the future if you need it. Or you could go for a less expensive GPU and get some extra RAM if you think you might utilise it.

If the GPU is best, get the best Nvidia GPU you can while dropping down the CPU (and cooler).

For less than your original estimate you could have a Ryzen 5 3600XT and an RTX 2080 Super. I'd hesitate to get the 3100 in case it slows the computer down too much.

I don't think your budget is going to get you anywhere near a 3950X paired with a 3070 (or a 2070 for that matter). It's just not feasible to have all the supporting hardware in place on that budget..... and the supporting hardware needs to be top drawer. You can't simply select the highest CPU and choose everything else from the bottom shelf. Sure, it's compatible.... but it just won't be optimum at all. You need a serious cooling solution all round as well, the case is cruicial.

Hey guys this is my final build, I´ve already ordered it (I´d love to hear what you think about it). But i´ve been hearing a lot about the need Nvidia 3070 and how much better it´s gonna be compared to the 2080-TI but for what i´ve understood so far, is that its just better for gaming. Is there gonna be a huge difference between the 2080 super and 3070 for rendering and why?

As described above. Your build is very poor and the choices you have made are not at all good.

Not much point in offering anything more as you don't seem open to the advise.

Honestly? Your fixation on the 3950x means you have an unbalanced system....putting in a very high-end CPU and then just shoving in the cheapest power supply makes no sense to me...that's like buying a Bugatti and then opting for a Ford Fiesta engine! You've also got an old motherboard isn't really suitable for that chip, a slow hard drive and an old cooler. Basically, you have sacrificed on the basics of the build purely to get a CPU in that may not even work anywhere near it's capacity due to the rest of the build.

At the end of the day it's your money....I just hope you don't spend the next 10 years being disappointed with it's performance because you chose to ignore the advice you asked for. As to the 3070, I would be surprised if that power supply managed to power both the CPU and a 3070

Okay, why should i get the CORSAIR 750W RMx SERIES™ MODULAR 80 PLUS® GOLD, ULTRA QUIET and not the CORSAIR 650W RMx SERIES™ MODULAR 80 PLUS® GOLD, ULTRA QUIET ? And whats the difference between a MODULAR and a SEMI-MODULAR power supply?

Being insistent on the 3950X this is what you want to be looking at. It has the case, motherboard, cooling solution and PSU all at a suitable level for such a system. Note that the storage is still way under what you would want to have for rendering but it's a start.
