Replacement PCIe M.2 NVME on GK7CP6S

I had the SSD on this laptop GK7CP6S that had the SSD fail (write failures). It was a 1TB Gen3 PCIe NVME. I've tried replacing it with a Gen4 PCIe NVME and the laptop won't go past the boot logo, ie it won't got into the BIOS settings. It HAS been detected, as if I put the old SSD back in place and the replacement in the 2nd PCIe bay I can boot to recovery and see the drive in Diskpart.

Is there an updated BIOS for this device available or any other reason why a newer SSD wouldn't boot?

Thanks
