Is there anything actually wrong with the Laptop?

Also: http://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/returns-policy/

thanks for that - that's warranty and cancellation - i've already revieved my order.

no there's nothing wrong with 'it' - only i'm not happy with them - if i'd have been informed after i placed my order that in a few days the 'revised' i7m chips would be available then i'd be fine
only after spending over a thousand pounds on a laptop to then find as soon as i recieve my laptop that they're offering the choice of newer cpu's and larger capacity batteries - you'd imagine how i felt.

To be honest no matter what you get for your PC, there is always something that comes out shortly after that makes your components look old, it's the way PC hardware works, its ever-evolving.
And as I've said on many occasions to various different people if you know about something new coming up and wait for it, you'll never get your PC cos there's always something new on the horizon :(

It would seem awfully difficult for PCS to highlight every new bit of kit coming out. I think with PCs it has to be a bit about personal research. For example, if you do some digging and find out that nVidia's new 700 range of GPUs is due out in a week, it might not be the best idea to order a 680 this week. I cant really see how it would be PCS' responsibility to inform all customers that the 700 series is out next week, because if they did that with all of the hundreds of parts that make up the many combinations of PCs...information overload wouldnt even cover it! :)

Yes you've suffered from awful timing, but I fail to see how as a consumer you can really be annoyed with the provider in this case.

But that doesnt mean you cant be...just it doesnt compute in my head.

There's plenty of info around on the web - if you'd done some research you would have known the new chips were due - Intel roadmaps are plastered everywhere.

nvidia 700s coming out next week??? have they skipped the 600s or was that an example??!!
I hear where you're all coming from. but I've spent a massive amount of money on a laptop then as soon as I get it there is an option for different CPUs!! if it was 2,3......12 months down the line that the new CPUs came out then yes, I couldn't get money back for the laptop so I could reorder it with newer cpu in.
in my case I got the laptop on a Saturday and didn't even open it until the following sunday as u was busy with work and other things. then after I check everything is working I go o. the website and newer stuff is out!!

I'm talking a few hours of use!!

Yes, it was just an example :)

This does tend to happen with PC hardware though, the moment you get your hands on some and get home, its out of date already, sometimes you can be lucky and you'll have the highest thing there is for a little while, other times it will be replaced very quickly.

For example, I got an i7-930 CPU last August, and by not long after christmas it wasn't even available as a choice anymore let alone in the top range of CPU's (never was the top one, but at least it was sort of in the top range-ish).

if you look on the intel website, the new i7 2760QM isn't even listed in the cpu lineups

True but there are similar listed and like Rakk says it's a bit pot luck when you order - if you waited for the 'latest' hardware you would never order anything (been there, done that!)

i know there's always something new down the line - i just bit the bullet and ordered thinking "there's no point waiting"...but i'm talking 10 days here! i've still not been using the laptop - as i'm waiting for a reply to my e-mail - which i sent on monday i think!

Are they?
Or is that just a made up example? XD
If you're making something like that up DED, I'll be very disappointed with you!

a quick update on the situation!!! i've spoken to them (politely!) and since there's nothing wrong with it i can't send it back - fair play really! it was worth a try! hahah!
there's only 200mhz difference between the 2720QM and the 2760QM - i wouldn't really notice it as my 2720QM using EIST (speedstep) usually runs at 800mhz (8 x100mhz) pretty much all the time at under 1V! i've only ever seen the turbo 2.0 being used a couple of times anyway and that was when benchmarking single and double threads.

all is well now! i think it's safe to say - if you've just ordered a pc or laptop - don't go back on the website you bought it from for at least 6 months! cheers guys!
