RGB issues and Windows not finding HDD

Hi all, I received my new PC yesterday and spent most of the remaining day installing an additional SSD and HDD, updating windows, installing office and all the game launchers and then at last some games to play (running like a dream on ultra settings!) So overall very pleased with my new rig. I have a couple of issues however and I am hoping some good people here can give me some advice on where to look?

The 2TB HDD that came installed with my build shows in the BIOS and in Device Manager but not in explorer or Disk Management? I have tried to update the drivers but they all appear to be up to date

The RGB lights on the additional LL120 casse fans dont light up - I have looked in armoury crate and iCue but cant work out what I need to do

The RGB lights on the 3080 just seem to run in a wave of rainbow lights and I cant seem to change this in eithe Armoury Crate or iCue?

Hey Rouchie, nice spec!

For iCUE, if you go to the app then go to the option for the RGB Node, make sure channel 1 is turned on with (x) x LL fans (x being how many fans you have), they should then all light up, once they do you can go to 'Lighting Effects' and create your own effects or choose from the list of existing options, plenty to occupy yourself with!

For the HDD, this seems odd but I have seen it before, if you go to Device Manager and find the drive, uninstall it from there (right-click then 'Uninstall') then reboot the machine. It will come back up after, see if it shows in Disk Management now. If it does, great, if it doesn't either DM me or give us a call so we can have a look remotely for you and get it up and running.

For the GPU lighting, can you see a brand on your card? If not send a photo of the GPU, I'll be able to identify the brand by looking at it and can send you a link for the relevant software.

Are they lighting up now? I notice it says you are in Hardware Lighting Mode, come out of that if you can, this only affects the RGBs when not being controlled.

It may be worth giving us a call so we can check the settings remotely (you can ask to be passed to me (ask for 2nd line)). It sounds like one of the settings is out, it seems to be linking back to the Scenes/Hardware mode. Lines are open at 9AM on 0333 011 7000

OK, will call at 9 when the lines open. Also I have now seen it is actually the 2tb SSD that I added that is the one misbehaving, I unistalled driver and rebooted but no joy on that

If there is data on that SSD that you need to keep I would get it backed up up on the original PC as soon as you can.

If it's in the BIOS and in Device Manager then it's present and responding. Is it not showing up at all in Disk Management? Are you sure it's not showing in the graphical list of drives at the bottom?

Was it part of a storage pool on the old PC? Type 'manage storage spaces' in the search box and click on the Manage Storage Spaces entry that is listed. If the drive shows up in there then remove it from the storage pool.

If you're feeling confident (and only if there is no data you need to keep on that drive) you can see whether the diskpart command can see it. If it can then you can reset the drive and initialise it from there. Be careful with diskpart though, you need to be certain that you're operating on the correct drive.

Open an elevated command prompt.

Enter the command diskpart. The DISKPART> prompt will appear showing that you're in the diskpart process.

Enter the list disk command. A list of the drives that diskpart can recognise will be shown. The only way to tell them apart is by size, so ensure that you can identify the SSD you're having problems with based on its size.

Each disk is identified in diskpart by a number shown to the left. Locate the number for the SSD you're having problems with. BE CERTAIN that you have identified the correct drive!

Enter the select disk n command (where n is the number of the SSD you're having problems with - eg. select disk 2).

Enter the clean command. This will erase everything on the drive!

Enter the create partition primary command. This will create a new partition the size of the whole drive.

Enter the format fs=ntfs quick command. This will format the partition as an ntfs partition.

Enter the assign letter=n command (where n is the drive letter you want to assign - eg. assign letter=f).

Enter the exit command to leave diskpart.

Close the command prompt window.

The drive should now be visible in Windows as drive n (where n is whatever drive letter you assigned above).

We got the drive sorted, we used Minitool Partition Wizard which found the drive without issue, we assigned a partition and then went back to disk management, it didn't show on the volume charts on the bottom but did show the partition on the logical volumes, we clicked this and it showed up fine, no issue all being well now :)

Fingers crossed for the iCUE wire check.

Yeah thanks a lot for that @JakAttack, a great relief! I am back now but in meetings til 4 now so will look at the cables then and hopefully resolve the additional case fans not lighting up

Got away from the meeting early which is always a result, I looked and found the unit lead had become unplugged from of the sata power cables, which I can probably accept is most likely my fault, possibly! Now all working a treat and RGB'd up like a christmas tree!. Thanks @JakAttack for your help on this and also to everyone on the PCS forums for all the help and support I have received since putting my first spec up to be reviewed and advised on, for answering my many silly questions and putting me on the right path to this little beastie of a machine I have now!

Hi, I still seem to have to make adjustments to the cooler each day to keep it within the theme, I to have to disable scenes on a daily basis? Is there something I can do so that once I have set my lighting theme, the cooler doesn't go rogue on my next boot up and I don't have to touch iCue until I want to change it again?

I’m not familiar with scenes, but to set a profile you shouldn’t need to use that. Can you take a screenshot of where you’ve set the profile? Have you updated any firmware?
