RMA Time Estimates?

First, I'll apologise in advance for if this is in the wrong place, I didn't actually know where to put it, really. Not a frequent forums person, and all.

Second off, I'm definitely being impatient here and that's definitely on me, not anybody else (I'm sure of that much, I get anxious when I have limited access to the stuff I use to work and relax, and with the state of the world it's hard to exactly go outside to pass the time instead, I just wanted to make sure it doesn't seem like I'm trying to place blame on the company in these times), but after two weeks without it since I sent my device for an RMA, so far all I have gotten was an automated reply three days in telling me that they were processing, and were sorry the laptop had been with me for three days. Of course, that email came three days after they got it, not at the two week mark, just in case that was confusing...

So, trying to put my mind at ease at least somewhat, and to give myself an estimate to look forward to, does anyone have an idea of the current average of time that RMAs are taking to get responses? I don't imagine what device it is / what damage it's taken has a bearing on when it's going to get looked at, just how long it takes from that point.

--------

And, I realise this forum gets a lot of negative complaints, so I'll add onto this question some positivity by saying that the device I got from this site has been the most powerful I've ever had, has ran smooth, and has overall been delightful to work with. The problem that led to an RMA wasn't a catastrophe, really - the laptop began to only charge at certain tedious angles that made it hard to keep alive (and a replacement power outlet from this site didn't work either), so I had it RMA'd under the assumption that it was going to be a port issue (and I was not going to be daring enough to try DIY, better to leave it to the people who know what they're doing).

Totally understandable.

The current wait for RMA's is around the 15 working days mark, you won't hear anything further until they've started work on it and figured out the issue, then they'll post an update to your online account saying what the issue is and how they're going to resolve it.

It's a long time to wait, but the entire world has ordered new PC's and laptops since last march as working from home and so everything is held back a bit at the moment.

Which laptop model was it out of interest?

The laptop model, I believe, was a Vyper 17"3'? I don't know if that counts as the model.

But if the working estimate is around the 15 working days mark, perhaps I just have to hold out another week to see if I get any news then, since 2 weeks obviously only equates to around 10 working days. Then there's the fact of Easter, and to be honest I'm not sure how that'll affect things either, if at all.

I'm a little antsy, but I realise that's more me being out of my element than anything.

Yes, working days doesn't include band holidays, so friday and tomorrow don't count.

I figured, I just didn't know for sure. So that's more like 8-9. Well, that does give me enough comfort that I've not been skipped over or anything, and that it's definitely just within the time I should have been expecting. Thank you for the swift reply, and all.

I can totally understand you're frustration and worries right now. I've only had the correspondence that they had received my laptop and it's now been with them for 20 working days (18 because of bank holidays) with no correspondence since .

My laptop has the exact same problem. I think the worry stems from the lack of correspondence, working on the laptop does take time I imagine but having absolutely no idea what has happened since it's arrived almost a full month ago is where the troubles really start. I feel like a simple email update isn't a lot to ask in these times.

Having said that Ive had nothing but good things to say about PC Specialist over the years and always recommend them to friends and family when they enquire about getting a new PC. Hopefully this can be resolved soon enough and we can have better correspondence in the future.

Well, that's certainly kind of intimidating. 18-20 working days definitely has me a little frightened, since I have deadlines to adhere to as a university student, and the only thing that has been a saving grace for me in that regard so far, is the fact that we've been on break for most of the time.

One of the projects is a large group project, and that's inevitably hard to workably get an extension on. And things are hard to access at the moment due to the pandemic, too, so I'm definitely a little more troubled now.

I'll take that as an updated estimate to work off, as a sign that if response hasn't gotten to you yet, by now, it won't for me in that time either. Please let me know if you can when they get back to you!

I sent my PC for a RMA on the 18th of March 2021 and it was received by PCS on 21st of March. It was an upgrade to my cooler and fans, I received the upgraded PC yesterday so about almost 4 weeks? Considering it was a bank holiday weekend I didn't think it was too bad. They have a large back up of RMAs.

What worries me here is that I sent my laptop back with a relatively small repair needed on 7th March (they received it on 10th March) and I've still not heard a peep yet you've got yours back already...so if it were a queue system you'd have thought I'd at least have had some correspondence 😔 starting to lose my faith in them now

It's not just a queue system. If it's a repair then it also depends on whether they have the new part in stock or, if not, how long it takes to receive it from their supplier.

I eventually decided to give them a call sometime last week to ease my own worries, and they said chances are they'll get round to it next week. So, personally on my end I'm feeling optimistic. No faith really shaken from me, I understand things are all topsy-turvy at the moment.

Figured I'd just leave an update.

Interestingly, when I went to check today I now suddenly had a fault report section, but it hadn't been written in aside from a mention of being sorry I found a fault (the kind of automated detail they put at the end of the RMA emails, or at least close enough). This wasn't there for pretty much the entire rest of the waiting period.

I don't know whether that's a sign that someone's working on it, or just some weird site thing, and perhaps it was always meant to be there.

More than a fortnight before they even look at your machine?

That's unacceptable

Ordered 11 Nov.

Sent back twice

166 days, still no working PC

your advice was basically "it's your fault, fix it yourself"
Not true, you had numerous offers of assistance...
