Router advice.

So I've seen that pc specialist sells a few different routers I was looking at Asus ideally. I currently pay for 200mb gamer bundle from virgin. The problem is power line doesn't work very well and my walls are thick concrete walls and i have dropout a few times or buffering. So I was thinking about getting a new router and put the virgin hub
3 in modem mode. I was thinking about getting a switch as well, but the problem is I have 7 people including myself using it with multiple devices, such a phones/tablets/laptops and desktops with WiFi adapters (which is why I might get an unmanaged switch).

Any advice would be nice :)

Thanks Mike

Depends on your budget. I have the nighthawk R8000 and using the virgin hub in modem mode. I also have a nighthawk wifi externder and a switch connected to it. You could also consider the vivid 300 package with no traffic management since there are quite a lot of people in your household using the internet.

Ideally I'd give a max of £200 - £250. Was thinking the switch to move desktops to Ethernet rather than WiFi. I have been tempted to upgrade to the 300 package, I'll see what deals I can get around xmas as thats when the contract is up.

I have done the same. The router is upstairs and I am using the switch to connect the TV, consoles and desktop to the internet. One month before your contract expires you should contact virgin and negotiate a new contract and request a discount or free upgrade.
