RTX 3070 PC less than £1500?

After 8 years it is about time to ditch my current gaming machine and start from scratch.

So that I can budget correctly, am I likely to build a decent machine for £1500 inclusive of an RTX 3070? Going on that basis that card will be around £500, that only leaves £1000 for the rest.

I am currently wanting to game at 1440p 144hz but I could upgrade to 4K in the next couple of years so would want it to be able to cope with 60fps on reasonably high settings.

Please let me know if I am being naive with my budget.

You aren't being naive at all, but you are over-shooting the mark with the GPU. The 2070 Super is a 1440p card, the 3070 is going to be aimed at 4k. You really don't want to go and spend £500 to cover a 4k monitor in a couple of years.... it's a waste of cash as the 4060 is probably going to manage 4k by then.

With that in mind I would budget around £350 for a 3060 and look to purchase in October/November when it's announced/released.

With that in mind, this would be around £25 over budget and ready for the 3060 to slot right in there....

Just to add.....

If you're ditching your current system completely you could transfer the Windows license to the new system. This would save ITRO £110 at current pricing.

Thank you for your prompt reply and great advice.

I usually opt for Intel over AMD. Would the i7-9700K be the equivalent to the AMD Ryzen 7 3800XT? Or is the AMD a far superior processor?

Much better, streets ahead of Intel in almost all areas but most importantly security. Intel have dozens of outstanding security issues that can’t be patched. Each time a new one is found that can be patched, that further reduces performance.
