Afternoon all,

Just wanted to make a few people aware of an issue that may affect some of you regarding 3080 cards and having observed the forums for a few weeks.

I raised a complaint to PC Specialist to articulate my dissatisfaction with the lack of contact and customer care. I am on 73 days now and they haven't been in touch once. I contacted them in December and was encouraged to change my STRIX to a standard 3080 and was told if I did I was likely to get my PC built quicker. I was further told that it would be likely turned round in a matter of weeks if I changed. Today the complaints team informed me in a reply that because I changed to a standard 3080 in December my place in the queue was changed to that date from October and I am now behind all the black Friday orders etc. adding substantial delay.

This is completely in contradiction to what the sales representative told me and nothing was said to say I would move back in queue. I wouldn't have changed otherwise as it make no sense to do so. I am utterly dissatisfied with this and am pursuing the complaint further. This is a reflection of my experience. Some of you may be in a similar situation so I raise it for awareness. Had I not raised the complaint I would have had no idea that I had been moved back in the queue 2 months and the implications it will have to my order. I have asked PCS to remedy this matter.

Oh no! Did they say that was specifically because of the GPU change?
I'm concerned all my amendments to things like the PSU and cooler may have affected my position

As long as u amend ur order to parts that are in stock ,it shouldn't be a problem ,also it doesnt affect your place in the general queue. I amended my order 8 times ,but to things that are in stock and it worked fine for me

Please note that due to the global supply issues our call centre is extremely busy at present and if you choose to call us the waiting times might be in excess of 1 hour.

As you will be aware, you placed your order with a product that was available on a pre-order basis (10GB NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 3080 - HDMI, DP).

The global supply situation from Nvidia is extremely tight, and Nvidia are only providing a small allocation to manufacturers each week. We currently have 1560 orders placed with us for computers featuring this product. Since December, we have only received 205 units and we are assembling all orders on a first come, first served basis.

We are doing everything we can to secure better supply, but the situation is not likely to improve anytime soon. Although Nvidia are not providing any official updates on supply, we are hearing rumours that supply might not free up until March 2021 or beyond.

There are a number of options available to you at this moment in time:

1. If you are happy to wait, we will supply your order in-line with your queue position as soon as we receive stock. You do not need to reply to this email or take any action.

2. You could amend your order to an alternative product of similar performance, however note that most competing products are also in very short supply.

3. You could amend your order to an entry level graphics card. This will allow us to complete your order and dispatch it to you. Then, at a later date once supply is more readily available you could purchase the product you originally ordered and sell on the entry level graphics card.

4. You could amend your order to have the order shipped without a graphics card. Then, at a later date once supply is more readily available you could purchase the product you originally ordered and fit this into the computer yourself.

5. You could cancel your order and receive a full refund. If you choose this option, please be mindful that you would lose your queue position.

Options 2 - 4 above can be done through your online account. You just need to login and select the option to amend your order.

We are very sorry about the supply situation right now, it is very frustrating for both you as our trusted customer and for us as a supplier. We feel that we are letting you down and it is not the customer experience that we normally provide.

Kind Regards
Yup also got same email, order placed 25 Nov (40 working days) for the std 3080 & 5900X. Nice to get an email explaining the situation that everyone finds themselves in. Just gonna stick it out for the moment.

The complaints team have come back to me pretty swiftly and said they have made an error and changes in order will not move individuals in the queue. The individual has apologised for the error and confirmed I am where I was which is good news. The communication is frustrating sometimes and that news did make my blood boil for a few minutes. Glad it has been clarified now.

I guess so, i'm on 72 working days now, I was told my estimate is to be built and shipped until the end of the month if supplies come in at a similar pace, haven't got any of those updates
I'm on 78 working days with a similar build to you and I got the email. I ordered the 3rd of october and it's pretty much been the only thing they've contected me for was to tell me it might be march until I get my computer. I've been patient but I'm beginning to feel really bent over by PCS now.

I too received the email today about the 3080 stock, I replied asking if there's a further option - to receive the build as-is, and then receive the card from PCS as soon as my time comes - reason being that with demand as it is, I can't see me being able to get a 3080 off the shelf from anywhere else for what it cost in my build any time soon!

Complication being though that the GPU is in the cooling loop, so I'm not sure how that would work from a heat block perspective as there would just be a 3080 heatblock levitating in free space until the card turns up. I can always put my existing card in another slot for now assuming the water block would be adequately supported in the case by some method (I'm not averse to 3d printing a fake 3080 to hold it still :) )

I received the email also but replied asking what my queue position is before I decide how I move forward.

The email references a queue so surely they can tell you where you are, right?

Shame we can't have a live queue position showing on our account screen but I suppose its never been needed until now
It’s just not possible cause they don’t base it on 1 product they have to base it on all the products in the pc say your 3080 was in stock but cooler wasn’t the queue position wouldn’t align correctly

Currys just had a bunch of 3080's in. They sold out fast but that's a good sign for standard retailers. If you want to pick one up outside of PCS. It might be a good week to have some stock alerts running.
