RTX 3080

I would hazard a guess it’s down to MLCC shortages (And some other substrates).

cards either use all Poscaps, or a mix of MLCC and POSCAPS.

Strix however uses all MLCC, of which there is a global shortage of.

(types of capacitors).

long term it will be interesting to see how an all POSCAP card stands up to an all MLCC card.
Cheers for the info dude, did not realize this was part of the issue.

I would be interested if you discovered anything with regards the two xmas builds. I was told yesterday to ignore those emails (which has been said on here frequently) and that they are still guaranteeing xmas delivery for anyone who ordered (and who didn't pick a part that said it's not available yet- pre order etc) . There is however a chance you may have to switch a component when the parts are actually picked, but you will be told. Had a good chat about the process in general. Very informative and I felt relaxed about it after, despite ordering a PC for xmas for which I had an email saying it will be built on 28th Dec... lol

If there is anything I’ll let ya know, I was told about the build emails too, but that was more to do with the 3080 build, but all the components are in stock for the boys build so no excuse tbh

Hard to believe still in queue, over 2hrs, and if it’s not answered shortly I’ll have to do it all again as better half needs lift to work soon

I’m in a similar situation, nearly 2 hours wait on the phone. Been first in the queue for ages and off to work in a moment ☹️.

If you’re in the line and you move up a place, I’ve probably gone to work 😂

I'm 55 days in, after getting told on chat that I was going to go into build on the 16th Nov, still no end in sight, to make matters worse I ordered a PC for the boys xmas a week ago (guaranteed xmas delivery and all that....all parts in stock as didn't include a 3080) and received an email today saying it was due to go into build on the 21st!!!! Waiting in the queue on the phone now, I wonder how they will build, test and deliver to Scottish Highlands by 24th????
They did my build test and send out in same day, arrived 2 days after. Next day seems to be an extra day up our way so not too bad.

Did manage to get through just as about I was going to the car.

Not much help at all, lad couldn’t be bothered to investigate apart from blurting out nonsense and saying I’ll be waiting until January.

PCS, really not happy this time. I’ll build it myself at this rate.

Looks like they are not keeping the tracking of the build updated then so we can see what happening, it’s been their failing during this unprecedented year for covid and demand of the launch of 3080, if they only kept a page of updates like scan and overclockers it wouldn’t be so bad.

Sad to say but that’s where I go for a rough idea on the gpu situation, and lately there has been a splurge of cards being delivered to those two, so guessing PCS will be the same.

One person updating a page on a daily basis would have gone a long way

Hi everyone, been lurking here since placing my order (start of Nov so I know I'm in for a long wait) but just wanted to share an update from a call I just had to give something back to the forums :)

The call queue wasn't too long, took about an hour and I started at 20th in the queue. I spoke to a very lovely trainee who kept on having to ask his supervisor but he was trying his best and it's good that they're taking on more people to answer all our calls.

Anyway, he confirmed (with his supervisor) that switching components will NOT change your place in other component queues. So if I were to change my CPU I would be put to the back of the CPU queue but I would have the same place in the GPU queue. So I could be allocated a GPU but still be waiting for my CPU, for example. This means that all those worried about changing their PSUs won't have to worry about the effect that may have on their GPU slot.

Regarding queues, he said he wasn't able to give me any indication but just that I definitely shouldn't change my GPU and I probably didn't have that long to wait (I doubt that from info on here but one can hope). He also said the Ryzen CPU queues were just as bad as the 3080 GPU queues and switching now was a bad idea.

Hope this helps!

I had the same idea - I'm not sure if we can mention competitors but the two main ones post updates to their forums or give more communication on queue time at least. But 3080 Strix is ridiculous - there literally hasn't been any update to Europe at the very least whereas the other aftermarket cards (and the FE!) all have been getting some stock.
We've tried to highlight how this is impossible, many many times, PCS have posted why it's impossible also. Please don't just blindly post in a thread, take your time to read over the history and see where things are at, rather than stating the same falsehoods over and over again.

If you're comparing against components sales sites, it's a completely different business that has completely different stock systems, and it's not a valid comparison at all.

They gave a 5900x and 6800xt to a youtuber called westie who's doing a giveaway atm which u can join. More chance of getting a 6800xt from that in December compared to ur order. I like that they do giveaways which is very cool but imo dont use the things that are highly anticipated, nearly non existent in the uk and have a huge backlog of pre orders

You should perhaps take a step back. I made no comment about PC Specialist being incompetent at all or how they should do better. My comment about the Strix (if that's what you're referring to) is not a reference to PCS, it's a reference to general European stock in comparison to other regions being low with no updates generally. However, the comment about queue times is perfectly valid, as others will tell you directly whereas you'd need to go through 2hours of calls to get an update.

..like I said, 'at least' that there would be an easier sense of communication on where you're at in terms of queue time.
