RTX 3080

Hi All,

I hope the moderators don't delete this as I think it's unfair for people who have been waiting weeks, maybe months for their PC to arrive.
I really wanted my PC before Christmas and when PCSpecialist told me they couldn't even guarantee delivery before February I decided to look elsewhere.

I was able to get a prebuild system of excellent quality from another site, to the same specification as my PCSpecialist order. I ordered it on Saturday and I received it yesterday. Very happy with it, cancelled my order with PC Specialist.
I understand the shortages are not their fault but like many others on here I found their disengenous communications frustrating, and rather trust breaking. For the first month of my order I was getting weekly updates on the likely build date, which varied from 27 November to 3 December. I had no idea from their automatic communications that there was any kind of delay, it was only when I found this thread that I realised there was a problem, and telephoned them. They then said probably February, even though they had sent me an email a few days before saying it would be built end of November.

Anyway, I am now delighted with my new PC, frustrated to think I could have had it over a month ago but glad I have it now at least.

I would be wary of most next-day systems. It's a prime way to sell off old stock for a premium price (B450 motherboards, 2700X CPUs, old Intel chips).... etc. Lopping on a 3070/3080/3090 will appeal regardless of the other areas of the build.

Long term lurker in this forum, been patiently waiting had a couple of changes here and there due to pc specialist informing me of no stock. And here i sit on nearly 50 days.

Standard 3080
I too had to change a component in my standard 3080 build due to stock (the case), but also swapped the CPU and motherboard from an Intel i5-10600K to the new AMD 5600X. I figured I've been waiting this long, I may as well take advantage of the other new and shiny stuff that's come out in the interim!

I was in contact with a chap at PCS, as initially I was told that swapping from Intel to AMD on the CPU would classify it as a "new" build entirely and would reset my place in the 3080 queue, but after a bit of back-and-forth, was told they could make that change without resetting everything, and keep my place in the 3080 queue.

My original order was on 5th of October, so I'm at 48 working days... now wondering if I do have my original place in the queue, or if I have secretly screwed myself by making that CPU swap back on the 9th of November...

I done the exact same around 2 weeks ago and they told me I would retain my spot in the queue, 2nd October.

I’ve spoken to PCS about changing mine from Intel to AMD and they have said that I have already been allocated my GPU (3080) so that my place in the queue wouldn’t be affected. So would imagine same applies to you :)

Good to hear! Sounds like there's a few of us who had the same idea, which makes sense given how super duper these new CPUs are supposed to be.

10th of December... Cyberpunk 2077 day... a moment please for all of those left behind (including me )

That looks the part. I wouldn't want the TXm PSU, but the rest looks good to me.

I wasn't specifically commenting on what you purchased though, more suggesting for people to be mindful when selecting these deals and not being blinded by the shiny 3080/3070/etc lights :D

At this rate I may end up changing my GPU to the 3080ti assuming I retain my position.

I’ll be lucky to hear anything before February

Only issue would be if a lot of people end up doing that, you'd be in the same situation you are now
And that to me is the daft thing about Nvidia releasing new cards when they've not managed to get stock levels of their already released cards out there. I'm going to enjoy ordering my 4080 next autumn after ordering and failing to get a 3080, 3080Ti and 3080 Super Ultra Deluxe Ti.

Day 42 for me. I’m going to cancel and sort out a new pc in the new year.
I reckon that'll just be restarting your wait in the new year - was reading updates and some shops don't expect to have their backorders cleared or stock to regular levels until June/July at best

Yeah, I don’t mind. I’m not desperate for new pc. Whenever this all settles out I’m good. I will end up getting a better pc anyway.

Honestly if it bothers pepole so much get a refund or select (no gpu I have my own) and source your own a simple google search will show how bad the 3080 stock situation is I dont understand how pepole get so worked up over it I started to then thought no screw it canceld my order which hats off to pcs gave me full refund very quickly and thought ill save up a extra £600 by january/feb next year and get another ssd or maybe a dedicated sound card treat myself for being patiant :) its a frustrating situation but no need for pepole to get shirty with mods ( lets be honest they have helped most of us with our builds ) come on chaps its christmas group hug come on bring it in

I wouldn’t bother, you should receive it early next year! I’m on day 40 and ordered on 15th so guessing you’ll have ordered 13th? If so people have already started receiving order from early October, you may as well leave it until the new year check back with them and see where you are at and then decide from there. I think if you cancel now you are just shooting yourself in the foot.

Just wanted to post this if it helps anyway, I emailed them about my order which was placed on 11th November for full build but includes RTX 3080, I got this response.

"First and foremost thank you for your email,

Thanks for getting in touch with us, I note that you have ordered the RTX 3080 GPU, this card is on a pre-order basis only and is in severe constraint right now sadly.

This is a global issue affecting all companies who either sell the part on its own or as part of a full system build like ourselves. As with any new product launch stock can be in constraint for a period of time whilst the manufactures catch up with supply and demand. Sadly with this particular line, demand has been rather phenomenal across the globe and thus this product remains in constraint to everyone for the time being. We had hoped that the manufactures would have caught back up with demand by now as is usually the case but that has not been the case this time around.

Stock is slowly coming through to us in dribs and drabs however until it arrives through the door, we have no confirmation as to what is arriving, of what quantity and of what brand in that respect. The reason for this is that the suppliers are unable to meet our demand and thus they are just sending what they have, when they have it and when they can.

We are unable to provide you with an estimate as to how long it will take for you to get your system because it is simply not information we can foresee right now. Furthermore we are unable to confirm a queue position as you may have seen other manufactures/sellers are. This is because no such system exists with us as we are a full systems builder and not a parts seller. When you order from us, you are ordering a full system, not just a particular part so although we do have a queue position, that number is generated based on where you fall in relation to when your order was placed. It bears no relevance to your position to getting a GPU in that respect because it goes purely off the age of the order.

I know it is a frustrating matter believe me, but I can assure you as a company we are doing everything in our power to deal with this situation. Staff are not allowed to order the above GPU’s internally as they would normally as we are prioritising customer orders first."

Not great, but still some kind of response.

Hope this gives people some clarity

I’m holding out till the end of January, I bought this pc as I need it for a project that begins early February. So if it’s not in by then I’m going to need to source something from elsewhere so until then I’m just hoping it comes in 🤞🏻
