RTX 3080

I ordered Asus ROG Strix 3080 build on the 22nd of September, and I just want to know why some people are receiving theirs before me although they ordered at a later date...
It's most likely a problem with other components in your build. They can't build it until everything is to hand and although it's the RTX30xx cards that are suffering the worst delays, there are delays on other product lines too. The worldwide slowdown due to COVID is having an effect everywhere I'm afraid.

You also don't know what's happening with other builds. It's not impossible that a build ahead of you failed in testing and they used a part that had been allocated to you in that build. I am quite certain that PCS don't have some sort of a downer on you, nor are they treating you any different to anyone else. Your PC will be built as fast and as soon as they can manage.

TBH this is the sort of unhelpful impression that results from this (almost insane) focus on one's position in the 'queue'.

This is why I genuinely wouldn't recommend 4k at the moment. It's not worth it. The 3080 is a waste for 1440p as well. I rarely recommend the 3080 in builds. It's saved for serious budgets where the customers are looking to drop £1k on a monitor. Otherwise, it's just a serious waste of money.

People read too much into benchmarks where reviewers torture test the new cards to their limits and thus hold their own systems to the same standard. That's just not how it works. 1440p wants the new 3060Ti for most users. You would save yourself an absolute packet.
Im running on a 1440p xD aint getting my 4k monitor until january. Still seems to look ok if i use DSR.

I ordered mine on september 21st but unfortunately couldn't proceed with the payment until later. My bank transfer limit wasn't high enough and i didn't realize, in addition to this my bank was only accessible through appointment at the time (covid prevention) so my order was only processed on october 1st. I'm also waiting for my internet to get upgraded from 20 mbps (15 at best in reality) to 100 (it will be probably around 70/80). Yesterday after two weeks i've called the provider and the operator said she couldn't see my upgrade request. (I was waiting for nothing basically) So i did the request again and on the 25th it should be activated. Lately i'm really learning to be patient, i'm starting to feel like

So I contacted pc specialist again, as last time I was told they’d finished the September orders for the normal 3080. This time they’ve told me they only have a couple more orders from September that they’re trying to fulfil but these are due to other parts being missing. Judging by what I’ve seen on here there’s still people waiting from release day, so is this right?

Sorry guys for this late post this forum has been helping me with my 3080 wait ;). I received mine 10 days ago which I ordered on 22/09/20 what was interesting for me is how quickly the PC was actually built so this is what happened; I decided that I was going to change my CPU from intel to AMD I was planning to change my graphics card to AMD coz I was not reli expecting to get the 3080 this year, on the 10/11/20 I got an email stating that they had changed the CPU to Ryzen 5950x I had to call coz u cant do that on their site, I checked the price and it was too high and I decided to change again to 5900x. On the 11th at 08:08 I got an email from PCS suggesting amendments I could make to meet my budget without changing CPU which I did and replied them. On the same day 11th at 13:56 I got an email stating that my order was being assembled and I kid you not at 18:20 another email saying order now entered testing and configuration process, I didn't see these emails till the next day on the 12th, I then rang PCS and told them to forget about the changes I had requested I was willing to take the PC that had been built even if it was over my intended budget. PCS told me that that none had been built it was just an error on emails I then asked if my 3080 was in stock and they said yes they were only waiting for the new AMD processer which was coming in the next day or two I asked if they had the intel 10900k in stock which was my original built they said yes I asked them to revert back to the original built as I didn't want to wait anymore which was agreed and I was told they would start building my pc that day, this was around 10-11am. At 13:47 I got an email saying that my order was awaiting dispatch and another at 16:04 saying order was dispatched however I then got a call from PCS telling me that the order dispatched was with the 5950x and if I wanted to keep it I had to pay the difference or sent the computer back to them to have it amended I decided to pay and keep the PC, I received my PC on the 13th bearing in mind they started building it on the 11th. the 3080 is gigabyte I am at work now I will post pictures tomorrow if any of you want me to

sounds like the building/testing team is working super fast to complete all the orders once they have the parts, and the communication between them and the team that handles the orders is too slow :) I can understand why the building team is pushing during this time, but I wonder if the other team is so swamped with orders and questions that they were slow to notify build team, or there's something else behind it

I ordered on the 20th sept at 20:00. I have contacted them a few times to ensure all of my other parts are in stock. I have been told on every one of these occasions all I was waiting on was the 3080.

I don't know whether this is the case, but if a build ahead of your fails in testing for another component (the PSU for example) and the last of that model of PSU in stock is allocated to your build (which can't proceed because there's no 3080) then it would make absolute sense to put the PSU you have allocated but can't use into the build that failed testing and get that PC shipped.

As I said, I don't know whether PCS do that. I know that I would because it makes good sense.

That's the second email I've had with the same advised build date (7th Dec).
Might give PCS a call at lunch to see if these emails are grounded in reality at all, especially if they've supposedly turned off auto-emails.

I'd say there should be a good wave of orders nearing completion because on 27th there should be a shipment of 850W PSU's, so if there are builds that got their card and just waiting for that, those should be complete next week. Since I suppose 850W is a very popular choice for 3080, hence the shortage of it too

This is what I'm hoping, would make sense especially with the strix 3080 having a recommended PSU of 850W. Hopefully this is why so little Strix orders have been built.

Mine has arrived this morning.
3080 strix OC version, 75% of the card hasn't been used with it being in a liquid series build, thought they had sent me another 3080 when I opened the box:D
It must look huge when all of it is used.

Very well packaged and the PC looks stunning.
I havent turned it on yet as it arrived very cold and with a good amount of condensation inside the case.
Will I be best leaving it a number of hours, maybe even until tomorrow before turning on? I have dabbed the worst bits off.
Other than that the build looks flawless to the eye, the build guy did a cracking job.
Once I have it all connected up I will post some pics.

interesting, are we all getting strix OC versions or just the lucky ones? since I've seen people report that they order both variants

Mine is a liquid series which is all OC so not sure on other builds.
ah, I see, just seen it on the strix 3080 thread, some people got OC version of the non-liquid card and PCS said that the configurator doesn't really specify if it's OC or not OC, just "ASUS premium" in general, so just wondering if it's luck based or how are they treating it

Are you waiting on the nvidia RTX 3080 and when did you order? I feel like there not answering my questions and instead just saying ‘we have “some” orders to fulfil from September’ like what’s “some”

I spoke to them on chat earlier and was told the next delivery of 3080 aren't due until December. I hope that is wrong.
