RTX 3080

Can i just ask is PCS having more trouble than other sites with the 3080?

2 of my friends have ordered PCs with a 3080.

1 ordered in September and got his around a month later.
The other ordered in December and has just had his confirmed for early feb.

Yet here i am sitting here on 73 days like a clown.

Edit: Gonna be honest. Having a moderator sneakily edit my post makes this all even more questionable.
I don't know which moderator edited your post, nor why they felt the need to do so, but using the word 'sneakily' to describe the actions of a moderator is not acceptable on these forums. Read the forum rules, which you implicitly accepted when you joined;

In answer to your question, nobody on here will know whether PCS are having more or fewer problems that any other system integrator. I do believe that PCS are doing all they can to source as many 3080 cards as they can as regularly as they can. It's not in their interest as a business to do anything less.

If you think you can get a similar build faster from another company then you have every right of course to cancel and go elsewhere.

I'm 84 days waiting but no more. Spent two and a half hours waiting in yet another queue today on the phon e. Was told my 308O is at least another month away , as for the 5900x he had no clue. So I have cancelled my order, I can take no more . The lack of communication from PC specialist is astounding. Thanks to the moderators for their advice .
Yeah it’s insane. I’m not sure if PCS just isn’t as good as others at securing stock but it sure seems that way.

I’m only 54 days in but the awful communication is very troubling, but at this point even if I took my money elsewhere I’d probably be waiting another 30 working days.

They were a great help.
How are you at 84 days if in other posts you said you ordered in November? Have you counted all days or just working days as it was obvious that no progress would be made on weekends as they are not open. (I am on 66 working days and ordered in late October)

Also, you picked 2 items that are clearly pre-order, PCS cant give you any info if they don't have any. You are within your right to cancel like you have done if you cannot wait but PCS has made it clear that they won't be able to help with information as they don't know.

It will be 3 months of waiting tomorrow but it's gotten to the point where I lost hope of seeing a building update anytime soon. Just gotta wait for it to surprise me 😂

I wish that would be true, 12th of Oct order here, still no sign of any progress, about to enter 78 working days, still awaiting for a personal update, I was told my estimate for dispatch is by end of this week
Yeah, I think if I remember correctly they got up to just before the 12th of October (could be wrong) so I would expect you will get it in the next batch if there is enough. I decided to leave mine a little and ordered on the 28th I sure regretted it after finding out they situation haha

If my logic is correct, there were people with intel builds and 3080 around and on my order date too, they all got into building, so maybe they allocated a card for me too as I haven't got the March delay email. So it's just the 5900X, but there seems to be people getting that too little by little, so not sure exactly.

All im going to say is its worth the wait for the 3080 or 3090! i have a 3090 in my PC and its unbelievable plays MFS at 60fps high/ultra settings whilst streaming and many other games work brilliantly! and im getting used to PC gaming as i moved from console so im a bit of a noob! but honestly keep waiting! PC specialist have been excellent with me helped me relocate some fans for better cooling also!

PS i only stream as a hobby not a job!

Peace out!

I've cracked too, changed from an Asus ROG Strix 3080 to the Asus ROG Strix 3070, one of the reasons being the fact I'm playing on 60hz 1080p, so there really isn't much need for the 3080 right now, it was more of a future proof luxury if I decide to change monitors, or, for those poorly optimised games like Cyberpunk & RDR2.

But the main reason is seeing everyone who has switched, on lower waiting days than me (I'm on 57 working days currently) have their rigs go into build within a couple days, so I'm hoping since I changed yesterday, within the next day or two I'll get that build update :)

Downgrading the GPU and changing a few things has also enabled me to up the CPU from the Ryzen 5 5600x to the Ryzen 7 5800x which is a bonus, and add more storage.

I'm at 21 days. I'm gonna hold out till at least March and see if stock does actually start moving. Based on when I ordered, its likely that even if it does improve I'll not see the first wave of stock anyway.

As an update, just had an email to say my PC has gone into building. Didn't expect it to be THAT fast

Here we go DAY 60, Lets see what the next 10 or 20 days will bring.
What monitor do you recommend with 3080?
Either a 4K 144hz or a 1440p 144-240hz. I would also go for an IPS panel. I would avoid Dell ones just because I sent 3 back due to bad IPS glow. Their quality checks are not as good as other companies.
