Samsung Odyssey G7 32" or ViewSonic Elite XG270QG

Got my build from PC Specialist last year but require new monitor.

I've been looking at the two above monitors but I'm undecided. Wondered if someone could give me an opinion or other suggestions. My eyesight is not the best hence looking at the 32" G7 but I'm told it has no inbuilt speakers, also I play online games as well as solo. Specs are as follows:

AMD Ryzen 7 3700X 8-Core Processor

Video Card
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER

RAM
16 GB

Operating System
Windows 10

Out of curiosity, do PC specialist sell monitors as an individual item? Thanks in advance.

PCS do sell monitors for people with systems. If you go into your main PCS account and go to the upgrades section you should be able to see them there. It’s a bit of a limited selection though.

Very few monitors these days have built in speakers, especially gaming monitors, you usually buy an external set.

They’re 2 very different monitors, the G7 is for competitive gaming whereas the viewsonic is a normal gaming one.

What kinds of games do you play?

I've been a long time player on Elder Scrolls Online, War Thunder. I don't normally play FPS but its not set set in stone, games like the Witcher 3, GTA 5, Cyberpunk (cough)... I do like online gaming, being a little more competitive would be nice. The Samsung is going for about 586 and the elite around 660 (I'm guessing latter is due to having the G-Sync module) on Amazon, although some reviews mention flickering on the G7.

Have a look at the filling link, specifically 1440p monitors.

ignore the 1080p ones, also never ever consider a 1080p over 25” as they are rubbish.

It’s always best having separate speakers, not least because sound quality is far superior.

Thanks everyone for the response to my original post. I've gone with the G7 due to it being over 100 pounds cheaper!!!
But you're not going to use it?

I don't think people understand what a 240Hz monitor is. You're paying a premium for the 240Hz which you won't use. Anything over 120Hz can not be noticed by 99% of humans. That's why competitive players are payed over $1M per match.

You could get an equivalent 144Hz screen significantly cheaper, or a premium panel with significantly better specs.

I'm not sure you need that monitor for your requirements.
