Sandy bridge issue notification

Will PCS be posting a notification on the website and / or forums to let people know when the Sandy Bridge issue has been FULLY resolved ? i.e. when PCS have a new stock of Motherboards without the fault on them, AND not using workarounds?

I was about to order a new rig, but having encountered the Sandy bridge issue I have decided to hold off until pay day at the end of April ( for now ), but I'm sorry to say I won't be ordering anything until I have confirmation that the issue is fully resolved ( and not via workarounds ). The PC I intend to order will have an SSD boot drive, a 2gb storage drive, and a couple of optical drives, so will need all the relevant ports in due course.

Yes, customers will be informed when the new stock arrives. We will announce it on the forums and the disclaimer which appears when you put together a quotation for a Sandy Bridge PC will be removed, there may also be a banner on our homepage but this has not been confirmed.

Please do not take this as any suggestion that PC Specialist might do this as my question relates to all companies.

Most companies seem to be holding on to the "defective" hardware and using workarounds to get around ths situation. Therefore when the new stock is available how will customers know whether they have supplied with some of the old or new stock?

My requirements will be quite modest and therefore I could see that I could buy a PC and not be impacted; at least not until I started to upgrade therefore I might never know

I would say the simple answer to that is Intel will give full replacement/refunds to suppliers etc on the defective boards.
So it seems silly to continue to use the defective ones once the new models are in, and would be easier just to send them all back to the supplier and be replaced with the new model.

It also will not boad well for any companies reputation if they are found to be miss-selling a product like the defective board and claiming it is the new model. Not to mention the legal repacutions.

So it is safe to say you will not get a defective board once the new models are in. And are only currently being supplied at customers request. Noone is being forced to accept the defective boards.

Thanks LFFPicard

That puts my mind at rest somewhat. I think I will wait for the new models. I'm only allowed a new PC every decade so I need to be sure!
