I honestly have no idea how computers work, can someone point me in the direction of a £550 laptop/computer that can run minecraft with some light modpacks. Not sure it a £550 computer can do that but guess ill find out

Im by no means good at computers, but for me to buy a £800 pc to play minecraft would just be idiotic
For you to spend £550 and expect a custom built PC to be able to functionally do what you're asking isn't idiotic, but it is unrealistic. You might be able to get an 'off the peg' system for something around your price range.

like i said, im bad at computers. but the fact that ive went on multiple pc spec test sites and all of them say the AMD ryzen 3 3100 and nvidia GTX 1650 can average at 100fps on most games is convincing me that it can run minecraft with atleast 60 fps, which in reality is all the fps i would ever need since im used to playing mc on 45 fps. so unless ive done something extremely wrong during configuring this custom pc, id say that £550 would do just fine

You're getting good advice. On this site we will only recommend a spec that has upgradeability for 7 - 10 years.

That configuration is a throwaway PC, it has zero upgrade path and would last maybe a year before it needs to be replaced. As such it's not something that we would recommend.

At this budget, you won't be able to get a custom PC from PCS that's worthwhile. PC prices have gone up substantially during covid, and a £500 PC from March is now around £700.

It's just not doable at that budget I'm afraid, not in a custom PC. I'd also suggest an off the shelf.

Why are computers so annoying, all the "off the shelf" ones i can find seem absolutely useless and the one im thinking about buying from here will apparently last a year

Basically you need to save up more to get something worthwhile.
