setting bios boot password

HI,

I have just bought a
Ionico Series: 17.3" Matte QHD 165Hz sRGB 100% LED Widescreen
(2560x1440)

I would like to setup a boot password . I can get into the boot system. I look at the various items on the Security tab. I cannot see any wording relating to boot password. Which of the various settings show I set with a boot password?

I don't want to screw it up...

Is this a PC specialist system? Could you post your full specs from the order page?

What do you mean by a boot password? A password for accessing windows or a password for entering the BIOS?

By Boot Password I mean that when I turn on the laptop I have to enter a password before the laptop will start to Boot. I am not talking about a password related to editing the Bios. I had this setup on my old Asus laptop. Very useful to keep folk (like offspring) off your laptop!!

I'm not sure they have that ability, it's either a BIOS password to prevent BIOS access or a windows password.

I could be wrong though, not something I've ever heard of.

Yeah we used to have this on the laptops at work, was a right PITA if you went to log on to someone else's laptop

TBH I don't see the point of a boot password. If you don't have a login for the OS that's been booted (or a password for the BIOS setup) then you can't do any harm in any case, why complicate things by requiring an extra password just to boot it??

I know you could set a password in the bios back in the day, I remember locking a full room of school computers via the bios but this was in 1999. And when you reboot the PC it would ask for a Password before loading windows up, never seen it since though apart from what Barlew mentions about bitlocker.
