My current specs are the rtx 3060 ti and ryzen 5 5600x and I'm wondering if that would be more than capable for 1440p 144hz gaming or should I stick to a 1080p 165 hz. I also think that for future proofing the 1440p monitor is better but I prefer fps more than visual appeals I would also be playing games like war zone, gta V and some Fortnite.

Edit: Thanks guys for the responses just bought the gigabyte M27Q :)

I have a laptop running an RTX2060 / Ryzen 7 4800H - and output it to a 1440p 144hz (can do 165hz) monitor and its great.

Go for it and as you said - future proofing then :D

Also you can run games at 1080p on the 1440 if you find you need to downscale the settings slightly and its still good quality pic :D

YES!! You should (y) a 3060TI is more than capable of running those games at 1440p and the difference between 1080 and 1440 is incredible. There's a bit of a post christmas monitor drought at the moment, but if you look in a month or so they should be be back

Yes to 1440p. The 3060ti can even punch well above it's traditional low-mid range position in the stack at 3440x1440 (though I'd recommend sticking at 1440p and tweaking settings, which tbh should be done with all games at all resolutions anyway)
Imo it's this and the 3070 that are the real stars of the otherwise finicky Ampere lineup. Solid 1080p-1440p cards but with good reach and strong legs.
