Single core Apps and some light gaming

I have a 4K 60Hz Monitor and my budget is approximately €2500.
My main use for the machine will be for work, using programs that unfortunately can't utilise multiple cores, relying mostly on a fast single core.
For work I don't need a killer graphics card but it need to be solid. I may hold out for Big Navi but I fear, like the Nvidia cards I could be waiting until next year which isn't ideal. And It could be a nightmare getting both the AMD 5000 processor and Big Navi availability to line up.

When I play games I like to play with at 1440p and I don't mind playing at the 60fps limitation of my monitor.

Any suggesstion on the build below to reduce costs or most importantly avoid bottle necks, would be greatly appreciated.

RAM usage seems excessive also, what software is it you are using? Is it for photoshop?

Hey Scott. Thanks for responding.

Yeah that's not a bad idea. The 5900 might be over kill if there are no other features that would boost performance for my uses. It difficult to get specific info for animating rather than rendering (which benefits from more cores)

The only reason I have the 5700xt on there is due to the lack of stock on the 3000 series and similar expected issues on the amd GPUs. But if drivers are that unreliable on the 5700xt then I guess holding out for AMD s GPUs is a better option.

The RAM amount is something I am still weighting up. I use animation software like Maya and Cinema 4D. Which can have very big file sizes but for my needs 32 might be enough.

It was @Nursemorph that responded to most of your query, I just chipped in with the RAM 😂

For single core with minimal threading I would actually be looking at the 5600X, just with a decent cooler on it for heavy renders.

You would know better regarding your RAM, it really depends on the complexity and size of the renders. I would be surprised if you were over 16GB and up to 32GB though, that's BIG.

With the GPU, I wouldn't go with any older gen tech when the new stuff is out. You will likely be able to get a hold of the new introductory GPU without any hassle. Compare it to the 3060Ti when it's released and see what is the best bang for your buck.

oops sorry @Nursemorph I was using my mobile to reply, I need to open my eye more.

Regarding the CPU, how much of a difference would the cache make for single core processes. The 5600X and 5800X are almost half that of the 5900X. Is it more important for higher core counts?

Is the cooler in the spec above good enough? Is there a better option?

I will stick with the32 for now then. I find myself pushing the 16GB on recent jobs and they weren't hugely heavy files.

Also, I will hold out a little longer for the GPU, hopefully my current machine wont cause any issues. This build is to replace a laptop becasue I need to have a back up machine for work in case my primary one goes down, last thing I want to be doing, is buying a rushed store bought build. The laptop will become the back up.

Good to know. I'll kept that in mind and try hold onto it then, depending on the GPU prices when AMD roll out their cards

Ah. You mention lowering the motherboard, what should I look at buying for the 5800X (doing further research it seems to be the better option for single core operations in Maya)

TUF is fine for almost all uses and chips. The only reason for increasing is heavy multi-core usage on the "moar" cores CPUs to keep stability and temperatures down.

It's fair to draw a line in the sand with the 5800X I think. Even given the heavy utilisation with the software, its only going to be one core which won't even have the manager breathing heavy.

Just revisiting this thread as we had discussed the 5800X and using the ASUS TUF gaming X570 in stead.
I in the end decided to go with the 5900X but due to the huge delays and now word that PCS may not receive another 5900X shipment until April, I think I will go with 5800X and ASUS TUF gaming X570.

If there is anything else that should be adjusted with this please let me know.

Thanks again for all the help folks
