SMART MON HDD Problem

Hi,
I started having some problems with my PC locking up and failed to boot a few times.

I'm using Linux so I ran smartctl (Smart Monitoring Tool) and my 300GB Raptor failed the health test. Please see out put below.

Overall my PC is running OK apart from the occasional lock up but it looks like the disk is about to fail.

Please advise.

Thanks.

Chris

Smart monitoring is quite clever and takes a lot of factors into account. Yours is marked as expected failure in 24 hours which is pretty drastic. If you have data on it then it will soon be gone. Immediate backup is suggested, hopefully it is not too late. You can minimise the use of the failed disc by using another hard drive to run the system, or use a live CD. I know that the recent Ubuntu live CDs include a disc utility which sets out the smart data in detail, not that it will change things now, it seems a bit late. If you only run the disc to copy off data then you might do it - with luck, but do not waste any time nor any non useful disc activity. Good luck.

Yup, make an immediate back up of all data you wish to keep then contact our Tech Support Team, they should be able to arrange for a replacement to be sent.
