Sold my gaming laptop, in search for a pc build

Monitor - AOC 144HZ 1080P
Uses - Gaming and a bit of video editing
Budget - 1000 - 1400

As the titles says I am in a search of a pc build as I sold my laptop.
I mostly play FPS games. I could manage to get 135 fps from a 1050ti and an i5 intel processor for Overwatch but that's it.

I want with a new built to be able to play games above 150 - 160 + fps when on low or medium settings like :
Overwatch
Overwatch 2 (when that comes out.
Apex Legends
Back 4 Blood (when that comes out)
Modern Warfare

U get the point. I am pretty sure if the build can handle these games especially the battle royales, then it can handle any MOBA games that I play occasionally.
I dont want to invest too much for a graphics card right now as the prices are quite high, BUT I would prefer that my system can be able to be upgraded in the future with a better graphics card.

Edit : Oh I forgot. I would prefer Nvidia graphics card instead of anything else unless there is a good point of doing otherwise.

£1400 is a really nice point for a good solid 1080p build that can be taken into the future with room for upgrades, I've come up with the below. This should smash any requirements you may have for 1080p gaming for a good long while but it also has room to upgrade the GPU so you can go into 1440p 144hz in future should you desire it. Any questions fire away

I greatly appreciate your time to look it up for me. I will definitely have a better look on that.
Can you tell me why not pay extra for better thermal paste?

Re the first M2 drive, there used to be comments that the Intels were not as durable a drive (number of times you can read/write to/from it).

Is that still the case?

It’s only £16 more to switch to the Samsung 970 so may be worth considering that especially if @Steveyg means for that to be your OS drive.

No, the new Intel 670s actually have a decent write endurance. It’s the Corsair ones on the configurator that are now the whipping boys in that respect.

Thanks AC.

Bit out of touch at moment as mega busy.

For the extra twenty or even thirty quid though the Samsung or the Seagate 500 gb drives are slightly faster if OP can stretch his budget.

Would potentially agree with this, if what we’re reading about DirectStorage in Windows 11 is true then super speedy goodness could be on the horizon.

(Disclosure- I do need to do a little more digging about that though, I know it’ll need NVMe to take advantage of but need to find out what differences there are between Gen 3 / Gen 4 and if there’s any point having two Gen 4 drives in a motherboard with two slots but only one that supports the speeds Gen 4 offers. I’ll either do some homework or wait for @SpyderTracks to enlighten us)

It’s not been confirmed fully yet, currently on Series X it requires PCIe 4, won’t work on gen 3.

That was what I’d read so far, but I know you’re plugged directly into the matrix so thought you might have newer info 👍

I thought that Microsoft had said that DirectStorage will support PCIe 3.0 NVMe drives as well as PCIe 4.0 SSD (https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/microsoft-directstorage-pcie-ssds/).

We've been utilizing a development version of Nvidia's RTX IO at work (not the same as DirectStorage but it has some similarities) and it doesn't work amazingly with PCIe3 unless you used a stripped array. PCIe4 makes a big difference.
