What monitor does he game on? What resolution and refresh rate?

What's the (target) budget?

If you're no idea, check the back of the monitor for the make and model number and post here :)

When you say fighting games, what do you mean? Shooters (Battlefield, CS:GO, PUBG, Fortnite, COD)? Or things like Soulcalibur, For Honor, etc?

Also, if it's for Christmas, when are you planning to buy it?

There might be some economies / tweaks to be made, depending on the above

He hasn’t actually bought his monitor yet but he is looking at a good resolution one.
My husband suggested - ASUS VG278QR 27 Inch FHD (1920 x 1080) Esports Gaming Monitor, 0.5 ms, Up to 165 Hz, DP, HDMI, DVI, FreeSync, Low Blue Light, Flicker Free, TUV Certified

I definitely mean shooter games.

My husband is nagging me to order the PC soon ( probably because he wants to strike whilst the iron is hot before I change my mind)

Tbh the single most obvious saving would be on the monitor. It's very expensive for the spec - i.e. £300 for something that's 1080p 144hz.

The Dell S2419HGF is also 1080p 144hz, with Freesync, and is currently on sale for ~£180. There are quite a few models with this kind of spec in the £180-£210 range.

It's a question of personal taste I suppose, but many people consider 24" to be the sweet spot for 1080p resolution, with the pixel density getting a bit too low at 27". If spending £300 on a monitor I'd seriously start thinking about 1440p 144hz gaming.

If going for a budget-level 1TB SSD, then go for the Intel 660p from the M.2 SSD menu as it's a lot faster than the Su630

The Spec Delta case looks poorly designed for airflow. The PCS SPECTRUM RGB at least looks like it has mesh on the front instead of solid plastic with 2 small holes.

Is the PC connecting to your home network via wifi or with a network cable? If cable, drop the wifi card. If wifi, consider the AC1200 card as it gives you the option of the 5 GHz band too.

Be a little wary of ordering a PC far in advance of using it. Prices can go up as well as down, of course, but you can get discounts around Black Friday, and new hardware can come out which offers more performance or pushes prices of existing products down.

Plus you'll want to put the PC through its paces when it arrives in case there are any issues. You won't want it sat in a box doing nothing for 2 months.

The spec is certainly in the right ballpark for 1080p high refresh rate gaming, but I do suggest considering the above.
