"Source" screen box appears and doesn't go away

At the bottom left corner of my all-in-one screen, a blue box continuously appears and repeatedly flicks through "TV" "HDMI" and "VGA" and does NOT go away. None of the screen buttons at the bottom of the screen do NOTHING to remove it. Please help.

Its not a sharp television at all is it?

I had this problem and found it was a cheap HDMI cable.

Theres also possibility there is an i button on your remote if you hit that it should go away also.

Whats the make and model?

Remote? I don't have one, didn't come with one.. and I don't use an HDMI cable, and the make is 24" PowerGlide Extreme.

Hehe, I think SmokeDarKnight wasn't thinking about it being an AIO and therefore the 'screen' is part of it and therefore needs no cables or remotes :)

Ah, so no one knows then? Seriously annoying me. And the buttons on my screen don't work EITHER. I just got this PC BACK after it broke previously, so it's highly frustrating.

I don't know for sure, but it might be a driver issue, is anything showing amiss in device manager.
Failing that it could be a hardware issue,in which case best give tech support a call.

What am I looking for in the device manager exactly? I can't even take a screenshot of the issue because it's the screen display etc but none of my buttons at the bottom of the screen are working (the touch buttons) and the box that pops up is blue and nothing I press fixes it.

EDIT: This has become so serious that the screen STAYS ON AFTER I TURN OFF THE PC, because the box keeps flashing on and off. This is a joke. In January my harddrive BROKE so I sent off for another one, then my power supply failed so I sent it back start of January. Then.. the package got DAMAGED on the way up and PC Specialist charged me £500 to fix it, so I appealed to DPD and ONLY JUST got it back from PC Specialist after three months, and now this.

Absolute joke. Why don't the techs browse this forum ffs

ALSO, picture:

Those are the buttons that don't work.

Nightmare man, they don't comment a lot on these forms as its mainly community based. The best bet is to call them tomorrow.

I've been trying to find a manual for your machine too to see if there is anything i could see that might point to a solution but cant seem to find any documentation anywhere. Thank you have to have bought that machine to get access to the docs.

Lol, manual didn't even come with it. And now a box is displaying called "Luminance" and the Brightness meter keeps going up and down and stuff. Seriously.. no clue.

As has already been mentioned, your best bet will be to give them a call tomorrow.

The forums are not an official channel for support and though many people are willing to try and help sort out any problems, sometimes you just have to contact PCS by their official channels ie. phone and email.
Especially since I think think many people who frequent the forums a lot know as much about All-In-Ones as they do desktops and laptops.

They said the button cable is stuck, and I'll have to send it back but it's taken them THREE MONTHS JUST TO FIX MY POWER SUPPLY so no way in hell would I ever send it back to them. Does anyone know any good repair companies that have experience with the PowerGlide all-in-one? Perhaps in the south east of England area? Cheers.

That's pretty gutting. Is the machine out of warranty?

I couldn't recommend any one else sorry, even though your experience with PCS has not +ve in your experience i wouldn't trust anyone else with my machine and would still recommend sending it to them.

I think PCS are also the only supplier of that model in the UK so other agency may struggle getting components should they require replacing.

I would suggest sticking with them and hopefully you will get a better turn around.

Sorry i know that wont be the answer your looking for.

Please understand though: I bought the machine in September, on the 29th December my hard drive failed, so they sent me a replacement. Two days after I inserted the replacement hard drive, my machine would not stay on for longer than two minutes - which obviously meant power failure. On the 7th January I packaged the PC and sent it to them (I did not have the original packaging so I had to make do with what I could find). It broke in transit and they charged me £650 to fix. I appealed the case and stated that DPD should've informed me if the packaging was not suitable, so after three months of constant messaging back and forth, DPD decided to pay for the damage.

I have only just recieved my PC again (Friday) and -now- I have -this- error? Surely they should've tested it before-hand. I just feel that it is all their responsibility and that -they- should personally send someone to deal with this, instead of me wasting my time and resources sending it back up to them and having to wait up to two weeks to a month until I get it back. It's a joke - I have work to do on my PC and cannot risk ANYMORE time.

I think i would of lost my patience and demanded a full refund by now on the principle of being a faulty product....

Kudos for putting up with as many problems as you have in such a short time.
Like the others have said, Contact PCS on the phone, ask for a senior member of staff and then (politely and calmly) explain all the problems you have had, how fustrating, inconvienent and problematic it has been dealing with it all and try to push for some sort of priority service out of them to pick it up, fix it and get it back to you in the smallest time frame possible (not just a standard RMA... next day collection, front of queue for repair and return...that kinda thing)

If you continue to have problems with it i would recommend doing a bit of research on the legal stance of refunds on faulty products and consumer statutory rights, as well as checking what agreements you submitted to with PCS in making the order and paying for it.

You will have to be able to show the product was supplied to you in a faulty state (for example, average lifespan of a hard drive is often 3 to 5 years dependant on how heavy the use, power units are often a little longer - the fact both have failed within a few months of purchase will support the claim of a faulty product but i suggest trying the nicely nicely approach first with another attempt at repair)

I hate to bump this thread but this is still an issue for me. No way am I ever going to send it back to PC Specialist without the packaging and what not, as they have literally screwed me around so many times. Is it worth trying to get someone in to fix it? I believe it's a motherboard error and that the wires are trapped due to poor repair by PC Specialist themselves. Any tips would be appreciated because my brightness slider has moved down to 0 and my screen is so dark that it is actually damaging my eyes.

Need to fix it right now but without paying £80 to send it back up to PC Specialist.

You could see if someone would look at it, I wouldn't recommend it though as it will most likely void the warranty, but you seem to not want it to go back to PCS so this may not be an issue. I wouldn't have thought the motherboard controls the brightness on the display but I am not familiar with the AIO pc's so don't really know how they all fit together.

I second what Steaky said, your only other option would be a local repair shop.

Again not sure how they AIO are put together but i would think i was something wrong with the physical input control of the monitor itself. i.e. the computer side of thing is fine and may be the actual monitor hardware that is at fault.

Is there anyway that you could connect the machine to an external monitor or television to test this? Not that it helps wither way but might cut down some trouble shooting later.
