Gorman very kindly helped me produce the following specs for a home computer capable of home video editing and digidtal photography. Would appreciate any thoughts.

That would be me! We were aiming for a 600-1000 budget with monitor and keyboard. This is an example at the top end of the budget.

Hi Sleinous. Thanks for your input I assume that you mean HD1. Would you suggest the same as Hd2? Though 8gb ram sounds great (8x my present system) am I being seduced by the numbers? James thanks once again for your help as you can see I added firewire as there was no mention of it in the original specs.

Yes same as HD2, or you can go for the WD1002FAEX, same thing, just a black drive, supposedly slightly faster. I say 'supposedly' ;)

8gb ram isn't too much when it cones to media editing/creation, makes things much smoother with latency of running multiple programs, especially ones heavy on the CPU a ram such as video/photo editing ones
