Also, just on the fans situation, 2 are been taken for the CPU, not sure about the one extra with the case I have got (I mean it is only £7 so I aren't bothered if it can't be fitted, but 3 from the front and 1 extract fan seem enough?

What do you plan to do with this setup? Gaming, editing, streaming?

Soooooo... what's the maximum budget in mind and what monitor will you be using?

(Congrats on the promotion, by the way :) (y) )

Ohh just gaming, I prefer my simulation games really, cities skylines, HOI4 etc. Just got a promotion so looking to spoil myself.
Sorry for late response. Me personally i would just get 16GB of ram but upgrade the speed to 3200Mhz for better performance you really dont need any more than 16GB for gaming. If in the near future if you plan to upgrade to the upcoming zen 3 processors it might be a good idea to get the 3700x for now. The storage i think you should get a NVME SSD because they are generally faster and then pair that with a large HDD like a 2 or 3TB drive depending on what you need. Apart from that looks great and good job on the promotion.

Thanks for the replies all.

I have no intention of upgrading this PC for another 5 years, my current I5-4900k and GTX970 I bought 5 years ago, it has been struggling for about 18 months now but I haven't had the cash.

I heard that faster RAM speed is very negligible in performance?

How much am I looking at for a 2TB NVME? I have a small SSD and a large HDD currently, I want my games booting in 1 second :D

Monitors I'll be keeping the same, main monitor is a Samsung curved 27", QHD (2k) and a side 27" 1080p Samsung curved.

AMD's new CPUs will be announced at 5pm today, I'd hold off on anything until the reveal and see what's on the horizon.

You also won't need a 3080 with those monitors, the upcoming 3060Ti will likely be the graphics card for you.

AMD really does like the fastest RAM possible, so worth the extra. As PCS have an open case policy, you can work on the machines without voiding warranty, if it is a budget issue why not go with 16GB RAM now and add more if needed.

Ahhh, first AMD I've had so I will consider that, thanks!

In terms of the monitors, looking to move into my own house next year, so will have more space and I am planning at some point for three, 2k 27" screens....stick with the 3080?

Arrgghh, that is tempting! Just I have to work form home now too due to Covid, separate screens are a must for my work :(

Well you guys are doing a good job selling it to me! Take it 1444p gaming looks great on a monitor this size?
Absolutely phenomenal! The curve takes a little getting used too, but is immediately excellent for both gaming and productivity, splits nicely into two screens, can be one larger screen but windows snap feature works really well.

Not only that the G9 will look so much nicer than having 2 screens together to.

I have just received minds yesterday and i can honestly say i would highly recommend (i am not sponsored by Samsung lol) wish they did though lol

BTW, these guys have that screen so they know what they're talking about :)

Aside from the usual windows snap feature in windows 10 which is very effective, the screen actually has dual inputs so you can in fact split it as 2 individual screens or Picture in Picture.
