Finally some that actually have some relevance to the forum!

My favourite game series ever is Final Fantasy. I initially played a couple of the early ones (maybe 2 and 3) on a friends NES and laster SNES, me and my mates would crowd around his and game for hours. Then I absolutely fell in love with Final Fantasy VII on the PSOne, I nerded out huge with that game, it really was the first game that I'd ever played of anything like that kind of scale, the game timer ran out at 99:59 but I must have played that game for hundreds of hours. I was working a night security job around that time and used to hook it up to the boardroom TV and a friend of mine would come round and we'd play it solidly until dawn.

The thing Square Enix have always done probably better than most is Music. Even back in the bit depth music times, they had a way of making it have an impact, it was all tunes that stayed in your mind.

The Final Fantasy Composer that did most of the work was Nobuo Uematsu and he's become a bit infamous throughout the world, with a global orchestral movement now touring with his music called Distant Worlds (more of that to come)

These are the two companion vinyl box sets for Final Fantasy XIV

I've become a Days Gone nerd. The music for it is also extremely good.
I'm fairly sure it's available on vinyl, I know it's on Spotify.

Nathan Whitehead is the composer of the sound track.
Zander Reese wrote and performed 9 acoustic songs for a particular part of the game.
Jack Savoretti, Billy Raffoul and Lewis Capaldi also wrote and performed songs for the sond track.

It’s so good when they really focus on the music because it does make such a huge impact.

Really nice isn’t it, the more I’ve discovered the more I realise they spared no expense with this.

Previous final fantasy vinyl has tended to be picture disks which are almost always pretty bad sound quality

This one, the cover art design is so beautifully done, the box art is all foil inlay, the vinyl is mastered by Yasuji Maeda who works for Grundman Mastering in Japan, it’s all analogue recorded which is SO unusual for this day and age, especially for a game soundtrack, and the lacquers were actually cut by Bernie Grundman himself in the USA (one of the most famous mastering engineers on the planet)

Thats PREMIUM quality all the way through. I suspect (although can’t find any conclusive proof) that the vinyl may have been pressed at Sony Japan which is the best vinyl production plant outside the US

So these are the first through of the Distant Worlds collection, there are 7 in all (so far). These are the albums recorded by the Distant Worlds Philharmonic Orchestra and Chorus, they tour the world with a show on the Final Fantasy music and it's become pretty famous. In the UK they usually perform at the Royal Albert Hall, and not just anyone is able to book that place. An old friend of mine actually designed the sound system at Royal Albert (he's an Audio Engineer and Designer), many years ago, I helped him out once loading kit into the Royal Albert Hall, I think I was pretty drunk at the time, all I can remember is sitting on the stage smoking a cigarette while everyone around me was lugging heavy equipment all over the place.

For whatever reason, the Distant Worlds website will allow orders from almost anywhere EXCEPT Europe or the UK. I could have had the 7 records shipped to a cousin in Canada for him to forward, but then I'd have to pay customs charges in both Canada and UK. So I've had to order some of these from the US. One I managed to find from a UK seller.
