SQL Server and Bullguard

While setting up my new PCSpecialist PC I hit a problem with installing MS SQL Server. The programs were partially installed, starting the SQL Services failed. Via another forum found Bullguard was the problem. Bullguard needs to be uninstalled completely, SQL Server cleaned up and re-installed. I suspect Bullguard was preventing some Registry updates. SQL Server could have handled this better, PCSpecialist could have warned purchasers or provided an alternative security solution. Issues like these can lead to a lot of frustration and wasted time.

Best to contact PCS directly and let them know, they don’t monitor these forums.

Its actually well known that some anti-malware software can interfere with program installation. Many applications display a warning message suggesting that you disabled your antivirus before installing.

If you disable Bullguard you may just be able to install MS SQL again. Failing that, try uninstalling MS SQL, rebooting and then reinstalling.

I just use Windows Defender (free with Windows) and it happily lets me install SQL Server without any problems

PCS probably just don't know which applications object to which virus-checker, and I suspect the list is quite long for many of them, but yeah you could let PCS know
