Afternoon pcs

I know the forums aint best place for this question, but at uni at the moment and cant call.

Just got E-mail stating a consignment has been dispatched via dpd? erm I assuming it's my ssd?

I was told I would be able to discuss this before anything would be dispatched, as I really don't want another ocz drive. Due to two drives failing already.

thanks tom

edit 2 - have tried to call, but cant afford to spend another 20mins on hold. So god knows what's happening

quick question, have you tried updating the firmware on your OCZ SSD drive? I've had issues with my drive since day 1, and despite several RMA's replacing various bits of the system i never quite got rid of it.

I then discovered the following thread : http://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/forum...0-BSOD-caused-by-OCZ-Vertex-3-SSD-Fix-out-now!!

and since then, i've had it running windows and been gaming away on this SSD drive (I've clocked up at least 60 hours on Starwars alone, let alone all the other stuff i've done on it) and not had a single crash or BSOD yet, so it might be worth giving that a go when you get it (if you've not done so already ofc)

@music guy thanks for the reply. haha yeah looks like ocz didnt wanna refund pcs for the drive. :(

@tracker, the first drive i never updated the frimware as everything was installed on it, and as a new drive you'd expect ocz to put the latest firmware on it. When it died i got a replacement in a few days, again brand new sealed so you'd think that up to date firmware would be on it already. When that died PCS did send me a firmware disk, but as the drive was missing from the bios I couldn't update the firmware. So twice I've had to reinstall everything. lol as you can probably guess I don't wanna reinstall everything again for it to maybe happen again. Things tend to happen in three's

So when it comes I will decide what to do with it. edit - thanks for the link :)

Which isn't an entirely surprising response from OCZ to be honest given that warranty terms generally cover replacing or fixing the not working item (or if neither of those choices is possible then replacing with an item of similar worth), not giving the money back - same with most warranties I'm afraid.

Do you know why not? Does this mean you are gonna get your old drive back?

No its a brand new drive, but dunno what model will just wait and see.

I get what ya mean. I was told that PCS will ask for their money back (note was added on my rma by the staff) But it was made clear its up to OCZ,

Fair enough, best of luck on the new drive though. If it is all packaged, you could probably sell it pretty easily and get virtually the same as what it is worth new.

i dunno how much i paid for it though, and you can pick up new ocz drives for about 60 quid. Also the only way i could do it would via ebay but say if someone bought it from me, and it failed they would come to me for a refund.

That is a good point, you could say no refunds available but that may be hard. You could always ask the winning bidder if they want the drive tested before it is sent to you.

BTW, what os are you using, is it any good?

I think that ebay bidding would be the only way. But i dont think i will sell it, not a very good salesman haha

using win 7 at the moment, installed on my hdd. Apart from being a little slower than a SSD to boot, or virus scan there's little difference really.

Yeah, caviar black is a good drive, congrats on getting your os back! How much different is the speed? How much faster do programs open?
