Strange tracking info

Hi there, this is probably nothing, but I was wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience or if it's something I should be concerned about. I ordered a PC from PCS recently and it was dispatched as of yesterday, it is being dispatched through Palletways , but i've ended up with two tracking numbers. One tracking number has a status saying JOB COMPLETED: "pallet not been sent @ 15:06 2023-04-21" and another tracking number has a status saying: AT DELIVERY DEPOT: Status update received via file import (At Delivery Depot)" Now, obviously the easy assumption is that they just delayed dispatching it, but both tracking numbers state that the pallets have different weights to them and different barcodes? I'm hoping there hasn't been some sort of mix up but I suppose I won't know until my PC arrives. Was mainly curious if anyone else has had a similar experience really.

I've not had a delivery via Palletways but I'd agree with your conclusion that ultimately it'll not be solvable until after they attempt delivery.

You could try to get in touch with the courier directly but thats not always a wonderful experience, alternatively you could ask PCS to do the same but they might ask for you to wait until after delivery.

I'd be very interested to hear how it went ultimately though if you wouldn't mind reporting back once its delivered?

Yeah, I had actually sent a message to PCS before my tracking number changed because I only had the "pallet not sent" message at that time but PCS have actually got in touch with the courier already which I really appreciate! Apparently everything is fine and it should be here by the 26th.

It's still saying at depot right now but I'm guessing that status won't update until it arrives at the nearest depot to me anyway, but incase anyone else has a similar situation I'll make sure to update this post when it's delivered. 🙂

So, the PC was supposed to get here today, but the status was stuck at "at delivery depot." I looked up the depot that was supposed to deliver it to me and cotacted them, turns out it still hasn't left the depot that collected the PC from PCS and apparently my local depot doesn't expect it to reach them until Friday?

Have no clue what has happened there, just one of those things I suppose, I'll probably have a look and see what the collecting depot was so I can see what's going on, seems strange really. At least my local depot has some idea, but it has been sitting in the collecting depot since last Friday, no clue why lol.

EDIT: I should note, I did contact PCS and they basically said to call them back if it doesn't reach me by Friday, the whole situation is a bit weird, I had a bad feeling when the tracking numbers changed haha.

Ah man thats nae good hopefully it gets resolved swiftly. Whilst it doesn't change much, for what its worth, PCS WILL get you sorted eventually.

Thanks for the additional feedback and I have my fingers crossed for a speedy resolution.

Yeah, PCS have been really good with communication about the issue and to be fair, it's more the courier that is hold up.

The status has changed to "out for delivery" but I'm starting to think that status is just for when the pallet leaves the collecting depot, because the delivery depot have said they didn't expect it until Friday, I'm not a big fan of the Palletways tracker 😂

Either way, I will see what happens next, hopefully there will only be a final update to say it is delivered. 🙂

Fingers crossed. you'll have it soon

I'll be honest, when I saw the title, I thought it might have been one of the cases where PCs going to Ireland seemed to be going via France accoding to the tracking info. Happened a couple of times a couple of years back. Was weird times!

Well as far as I know it hasn't been to France. 😂

Today is supposedly the day the delivery depot expects it, although I'm surprised it took even that long if it left the collecting depot on Wednesday night, you would've thought it'd have got there late yesterday. They deliver until 9pm so I'm hoping if it gets there this morning they might dispatch it later today. With it being a bank holiday on Monday it's not gonna get here until Tuesday if it doesn't arrive today so I'm obviously very hopeful they send it might way before 9pm tonight. 😂

Either way, fingers crossed. If it somehow doesn't get to them today I'll have to call around France just incase.

I have some great news! The PC did not infact go to France! Thanks for all the support everyone, I'm so happy it has arrived! Turns out there was a customs charge (strange I know, seeing as it went from the UK to NI) which caused the delay, but it has finally arrived! I was trying to attach a picture but it keeps saying the file size is too large 😭

Shouldn't be any charges from the UK to NI mate, it'll go through customs for sure but there shouldn't be any charges applied. Can cause delays but no costs for something like a computer

Probably incorrect paperwork. The "Northern Ireland Protocol" means that goods coming from UK to NI need to be treated in similar manner as if they were going to EU. Politics, etc but it does result in delays and additional paperwork. It shouldn't have resulted in any additional fees to the OP though, so if it did, I'd be contacting PCS for refund.

Yeah I'm super familiar with it mate, I actually have a background as a logistical expert and have helped the company I work for navigate all this nonsense the past 3/4 years

Strange though as I haven't seen PCS have any issues with anything else they've been sending this direction, I'd say it's likely an issue with the carrier themselves and they like to disguise that as "holds" when really it's just a package that didn't get to it's connecting transfer on time. Certainly nothing they should be charging for

Yeah, I asked PCS about it and they said they weren't charged and I haven't been either, but there is a note on the tracking document saying customs charge so I'm really not sure what happened there, really weird.

Yes DPD it`s been despatched by pc specialist, but has been on route from hinckley to glenfields, which is 20 miles and can be done in 20-25 mins but it`s been 3 days, i paid for a Sunday delivery and after phoning DPD they don`t know or understand why it`s not with them and out for delivery? but like you I made a legally binding purchase contract with pc specialist not DPD, so it is pc specialists resonsibility to see it through but they`re not open till monday. I suggest in the future PCS uses a more reliable comapany for deliveries, this is in no means PCS`s fault and to some extent makes them look unproffesional, but as consumers we deal with and hold a purchase of sale directly with PCS so it should be in their best interest to sort this out, they probably should if not already issue contractual fines to these companies. So i`ve wasted a day of my weekend and paid for sunday delivery lol, but hey ho, just more hassle.
