System Advice

Hi,

I'm thinking about getting a PCSpecialist system for my next PC. I'll be using it for a bunch of stuff like gaming, programming (including DX11 graphics), photo editing (including large HDR panoramics), music composition. This is the spec I'm currently looking at:

http://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/computers/intel-1366-overclocked/
with the following options:

Coolermaster CM690 MKII Advanced Case
Intel Core i7 950
Asus P6X58D-E
12GB Kingston Hyper-X TRI-DDR3 1600MHz (6x2GB)
1Gb ATI Radeon HD 5870
120GB OCZ Vertex 2 SSD
1TB Western Digital Caviar Black, SATA 6Gb/s, 64MB Cache
10x Blu-Ray ROM Drive, 16x DVD
Corsair 850W PSU (TX850) 80+ Ultra Quiet
Titan Fenrir Cooler
Arctic Cooling MX-3 Compound
On Board Sound
Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit

Does this seem like a reasonable spec? Will there be any cooling problems given that I have all 6 memory slots filled?

Thanks for any advice!

Hi Matt and welcome,

This looks like a well made spec, there will not be any cooling issues with it as long as its allowed good airflow.

Yep this is pretty insane tbh, nothing to improve upon :) PSu is fine, will even handle a second card in Xfire

Agreed with the guys above, no mistakes/obvious blips in the configuration - it all looks good to me!

Thanks for all the comments! I'm happy with the specs now.

Just a couple of questions:

The CM690 case is the only one not to mention fans, but I assume it comes with the standard front, rear and top ones?

I read this in the FAQ:

"You understand that we have over 30 different measures in place to detect if a component has been moved/removed and if you have moved/removed a component, your warranty will be void. You are only entitled to add extra components to your computer."

Does this mean that if I replace the current GPU with a new one, I'll void the warranty? Or if I replace the memory?

Yes the 690 has the standard intake / output fans etc.

It means you can add components to your machine such as a new GPU, but we wont support it unless the new bit is through us. Its to cover the triggers broom scenario where in 5 years a customer has upgraded every single component in their machine with parts bought from ebay but as it still has the case expects us to support it!

Speaking of new bits, are we able to buy seperate components from you at a later date if we've already bought the main computer off you or something? :)
