Taxes Abroad?

Not here for specs but for a taxes question.

current config on a uk delivered laptop has my quote at
£2,213.00
inc VAT and Delivery

By reconfiguring the website to italian and putting next day delivery to Italy, it reverts the quote of the very same specced laptop

QTY
1
£1.874,59
ex VAT
£1.874,59
inc Delivery

I'm uk resident but flying to Italy next month to family, can't help but to think if its gonna be cheaper to have it all sent there.
However I do feel there's going to an inevitable export tariff or something, I'm sure an uk built laptop doesn't go £300 cheaper because its being sent abroad lol.

Can I get some sort of clarification on the final quote to italy? I would assume that somehow it's going to tally up to the same price as UK delivered.

But if one doesn't ask, one doesn't get..

If you set the address to outside the UK on the UK site, it wont work out the relevant taxes and stuff for you and you will probably have to pay them at some point, possibly at customs

If you use the Italian version of the site (https://www.pcspecialist.it/) I believe it will work out the correct taxes and fees and stuff for you for delivery and import into Italy

Edit: I'm no PCS staff member nor customs/import expert so this is just how I understand it works (so I could be wrong)

The other thing that you might want to check is what will happen about it at customs when you return to the UK, as you wi8ll effectively be importing it

Italian customer here. Ordered from Italian PCS website and didn't have to pay anything for delivery

Did Italian customs accept that the product originated in the EU?
If you order through the locality website, it factors in tax for that country and then PCS handle getting it to the EU state.

If you order on the UK site and set European delivery, it doesn’t and you’d have to pay tax before the thing was delivered.

Are you saying that PCS have a VAT account in each EU country they have a presence? That's the only way that would work.

I know that Greece has said that ANY item arriving in Greece from the UK will be subject to Greek VAT. That Italian VAT had been paid when I ordered it would be irrelevant because the product was shipped from outside the EU.

This would only work for me if the PC was shipped from PCS in Italy, hence my question.

Indeed. PCS has branches registered in each country. In Italy PCS is registered in Milan. This means that ordering from local website will make sure you won't pay anything else and VAT etc will all be included in the final price :)

OP is a UK national, unless he’s permanently moving to Italy, there’s no issues with tax at all. And if he is permanently moving to Italy, that’s all dealt with in the emigration details.

Should order for UK delivery and then take it as normal in carry on luggage, no question of any Italian tax issues as user isn’t emigrating.

Though there may not be enough time depending on when they're heading over there of course :)

Sure, if he buys it tax paid in the UK there will be no problem bringing it back, nor taking it into Italy as a personal possession - that is exported with him.

Brexit has changed everything. Its no longer as simple as it used to be. We no longer buy anything from the UK.
