Any comments as to how good/bad my specs are? Also, has anyone ever tried the Seagate GEN3 SSHD before?

It's a good and very balanced spec. :) What are your usage requirements?

I've never seen anybody order the SSHD before, must be pretty new, but like most hybrids it should offer a substantial boost over traditional hard drive performance (it won't reach SSD speeds though) and unlike a lot of hybrids it actually seems to be pretty good value too, so I'm sure it'll be fine.

The best thing you can do is read up on it from a few different reviews and see what you think.

I do a bit of gaming but mostly its to replace my old sony laptop that is on its way to being dead right now. You know you have to replace your laptop when its already three years old and it starts to crash and give you the BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH, lol XD

I'm also hoping to do a bit of designing, simulations test and coding as (hopefully) I get into university this september studying theoretical physics.

As for the performance of the Third generation seagate SSHD, I'll have to test that one out myself because I can't seem to find any review on the internet :S They are quiet new I suppose....As long as the booting time is relatively fast, then I'll be satisfied with it. Might upgrade and install an SSD later on. :)
