Hi all, Just wanted to share my experience with DPD/Interlink (their sister company) I had to recently enquire for an RC on a mechanical part for my computer, I called the sales line as PCS requires any standard requests to be send over using your own postal/courier service. I was put thought to sales whom asked me a range of questions and then said as the parcel contained mechanical parts they was unhappy to ship it due to the nature of DPD's automated sorting systems at their delivery hubs, they requested that I would find a specialised courier service to deliver the parts. I found this rather strange as other well known pc building companies also use DPD to ship their parcels out without this caveat. anyway PCS is now handling my case so hopefully I wont have to venture back into DPD's Interlink service.

It seems DPD does ship mechanical parts (and i have experienced it first hand. Their special delivery/swap was packaged super and I mean super!!.) I suspect the sales person at DPD wasn't sure what computer parts are. The Auto sorting method doesn't always work but my overall experience of DPD has been postive. Of around 20 deliveries with different firms I have only had 1 Damaged/Dropped delivery which PCS has put right.

Had my PC from PCS delivered yesterday - got email stating it'll be here at 9.30-10.30 with online tracking: brilliant. Received about 9.40: one big box. Thought it was odd, checked with driver "only one box" and then signed for it. Got it in the house and the right way up (it was delivered on its side) and saw "1 of 2" - checked inside and no monitor. Checked email - received another tracking number from DPD with estimated delivery time of 14.30 to 15.30 and checked with them via twitter - turns out the original driver missed the monitor at the depo(!) and they sent it out on the next available person leaving in my direction. Second driver came around 3pm a little confused as his box said "2 of 2" and he only had one - said I received the other one earlier and all was well.

Apart from a bit of human error when loading the van and so getting my hopes up a bit prematurely, an excellent delivery. Full PC review coming soon :)

DPD Misdirection...

Hello guys!

After the long wait for my new gaming PC, the parcel has been finally dispatched by DPD on 27/10, on its way to Ireland, where I live.

Today, I have checked the tracking information and it's showing up as "Misdirect".

I have contacted DPD Customer services and they have told me that the parcel has been indeed misdirected and won't be delivered today (as it was due to), but that they will try to deliver it tomorrow.

I've got some feedback from friends using DPD, and they told me that I shouldn't get my hopes up too much to get it tomorrow, as they usually mess up the deliveries when these issues arise.

Can you share your experience as well?

Thanks!
Simone

Thanks DeadEyeDuk and to the mod who moved the thread :)

Fingers crossed, then!

Update 30/10/2014: DPD Ireland responded to the e-mail I've sent them yesterday, they said that the parcel was misdirected to a wrong depot in "Cork City Centre & South" while it should have gone to "Cork North & County" and that I would receive it today. I went checking the tracking today and as of now it still shows as "Parcel has been sorted". But it is in Athlone, Dublin, once again.

I'm going to ring them soon to see what kind of unicorns they will say they have killed to justify this.

Update 30/10/20144: Rang their global customer service that redirected me to the local depot in Cork North & County. Found out on the tracking information that they had an incorrect phone number and they were missing the last digit. I have provided the correct phone number and they gave me the direct mobile number of the driver with my parcel.

I called this gentleman and he was completely lost as he didn't have any parcel for me and stated that he did not attempt to call me at all.

I called back at the depot, they asked to confirm my phone number once again and they told me they have to check, and would call me back in 10 minutes. 2 hours passed, I tried to call them again 4 times and every time they do not answer anymore. I begin thinking they have somehow blacklisted my number. Too bad, I'm gonna try with a friend's number soon.

Last Update:

After being unable to reach the local depot, I have posted on their DPD.ie facebook page, and got a reply that they were sorry etc. At the same time, I managed to reach the depot, and arranged a pickup.

Basically, they told me that the parcel never left the depot despite the tracking information, as since my address was marked as an Apartment (which it is, indeed), they have tried to call me but since the phone number they had on file was incorrect and due to the high value of the shipment, the parcel did not leave the depot at all.

While I arranged the depot, Effie from the Facebook page had finished her verifications and showered me with due apologies, and proposed to arrange a special delivery for this afternoon.

Having, however, already set up the pickup with the depot, I have informed Effie about this and she asked me if there was something else they could do.

I have asked them to refund the taxi fares to collect the item, and they said that while they don't normally do anything like that, she believed I'm eligible for an exception and asked me to forward a scan of the taxi receipt.

So far, I must say that even if they made a mistake over another, they're at least keen to try to find a satisfactory solution for the customer.

As for my new jewel from PCS, I'm still tinkering with it, but so far I'm really, really impressed.

I'll keep this post updated for report's sake.

Received my PC from DPD today and cannot fault them. Great delivery company and their tracking system is really decent.

i received my pc today and it arrived in the 1 hour time slot that i was given.

the packaging was in very good condition and the driver, Gurpal Singh, was very polite.

Well, my experience with the delivery is a mixed bag of coins, so to speak, dpd has done what i should do, handed the delivery over to postnord which is the one taking care of the packages here in sweden, so far all good, then postnord says they put it in a car, for delivery, and 4 minutes later the status update was, unable to deliver, which quite frankly is quite hard to alrady know 4 minutes after since i live at least 20 minutes drive from the depot. well, then postnord is supposed to deliver it to the nearest place where i can get it handed over, which is normal procedure, but instead the package has not moved from their depot, i call them to try and figure out what is going on, and now the package is being searched for... quite annoying with a package of value 1500 euro that seem to not follow standard procedure, so im awaiting to figure out if they have lost the package or what is going on... saga will continue when i have more news

now its supposedly being sorted at a different town, im just wondering what the bleep is it doing there from my town to there is a few hundred km, so instead of sending it to a place where i can collect it, they send it back to a sorting central for ?? reasons..

Only ever had bad experiences with DPD. To be honest I probably shouldn't have bought from you guys knowing DPD would be handling..

They've managed to lose my parcel and wont start an investigation until PC Specialist get involved... Some [person] working for their sorting hub is sitting pretty with a new £1,200 PC. Brilliant.

That sucks to hear. I would consider reporting the driver for your area if this is not the first time its happened.

If you read the full thread you'll get the picture - but essentially it was started a while ago when PCS changed over to DPD (delivery courier) and they were asking for feedback on our experiences with them after buying a PC from PCS.

Well I received my last PC via DPD and had to send it back immediately as the CPU cooler was loose and you could hear it falling about inside the case! :wheelchair:
Got it a week later without even an apology or compensation due to the delay in receiving what I ordered. That is why I didnt purchase this PC from that company. Their loss!

As for DPD overall its been a mixed bag. Weve even had a new mobile not delivered by DPD. Van was parked outside but no one showed up. I was in all day. Next thing I know the mobile has been marked on package tracking as "delivered." Queue telephone calls with company who sold the phone who insisted it had been delivered. To which I asked for details of the delivery action taken by the driver. No surprise got a call back later saying we needed to re-arrange delivery again! :sorcerer:

Some companies hire anyone and that means you can end up with Einsteins and more likely monkeys.... Nuff said!

No delivery company is perfect. There is always the possibility of an error or mistake

Yeah.... though that possibly rises with certain companies!

My first PCS laptop was delivered today. The DPD tracking app worked really well, but I have to say I was a bit disapponted that no one asked for ID verification from my partner, who received the parcel on my behalf. Apart from that, everything went well, and can't wait to go home and unpack it :D

Now is the time to pull that well deserved sicky :tt2:

Well, Murphy's law. Delivery scheduled for Monday and it's bank holiday... Will update as how it goes.

My previous experiences with DPD haven't been good. Ordered a book and a Kindle case months ago from Amazon, and somehow I got a mail from Amazon telling me how I returned it and they were refunding me, looks like "I received it and did not meet my expectations" even though I never received it. Checked with Amazon and they said it was delivered correctly to my employer's reception and then returned (I was at work that day and receptionist did not see any delivery from DPD that day). So smelled like the driver did not like what he found, luckily he was nice enough to return it and I could reorder again.

Same happened to my work colleague couple of weeks later, she ordered a cool toy truck for Christmas for her nephew. She told me as she ordered and I told her about my previous experience then asked her about what delivery company the parcel had, and she said DPD, "hopefully you'll get it" I said. The truck never reached her. She had troubles convincing the shop to send another one again as DPD said they delivered it to the correct address and somebody there signed. Again nobody delivered at my work that day, and we had security cameras to verify.

Not saying is the company's fault, but there's somthing going on there, crossing fingers...

You must be in RoI then, cos in the UK we had our bank holiday at the beginning of this week, I honestly don't know if they deliver on bank holidays in RoI, I'm pretty sure they don't here (though I could be wrong)
