The Karmic Wheel Turns…

I dont really feel much sorry for them. But it is still a criminal act, hopefully it wont strike innocent people.

Also, the fact that source code for the FrostBite engine got stolen makes me worried about next battlefield 2042.
If cheat makers get access to engine source code, the game might be littered with cheaters in such a way it will never recover.
Which makes me a bit sad, cuz i am really looking forward to this battlefield game

TBH it amazes me how companies that specialise in computers and/or computer gaming can leave themselves open to these kinds of attacks. They should be more aware of the risks and how to secure against them than almost anyone else.

Too many companies believe that the risk of an attack is so low and the cost of the changed working practices necessary to secure their systems is so high that they prefer to run the risk.

CEOs buy lottery tickets believing they might win, but they 'secure' their systems believing they won't. It makes no sense.

These types of people are a bunch of sad individuals who are only interested in themselves and don't care about the millions of peoples enjoyment .... destructive sad individuals who have no other life but to ruin everyone else's fun for their own greed and inner satisfaction of achieving something in life that they obviously couldn't at school .... maybe clever with computers but probably not much else :mad:

I actually think it's all about money. The world is run by accountants and when they see the expenditure needed to properly secure their systems and zero obvious return on that expenditure they just say no. Everyone is trying to shave their costs to the bone these days and security is something that makes no sense to an accountant.

This month's project: How to convince an accountant that the cost of securing your systems is way less than the cost of having them breached?

Answers on a postcard.

No, I didn't know that, but it doesn't surprise me. It's been this way my whole life, I've been made redundant from a very successful IT business because the accountants didn't understand why you need highly skilled and highly paid individuals basically there in case something goes wrong. You can't tell them that something will go wrong eventually and that without us you're screwed (and they were), but it just doesn't register with accountants. The bottom line is their whole world.

Accountants are only marginally above art critics in my book. And they are running it very close to pond slime.
