Thoughts on Acer Nitro XZ0 Curved Gaming Monitor

I am planning to buy my first gaming monitor which will be used as my primary monitor for PC gaming, which I am planning to build on PCS in a couple of months.

I have been looking for various deals on different monitors and am still confused if I should go for 1080p 165Hz/240Hz or 1440p 144Hz. I came across this Acer Nitro XZ0 Curved Gaming Monitor and the deal I am getting is great. Although I have watched a lot of buying guides, I would appreciate any thoughts on this or any recommendations.

These are the monitor specs -

27" 1080p 240Hz
VA Panel with Adaptive Sync
The product highlights show a 1ms response time but the product description shows 5ms. Not sure which is correct.

It depends on which GPU you have mate, you match the GPU to the monitor
I get that but I still haven't decided on my PC build yet. I am thinking of getting 3060 as it should be sufficient for 1080p gaming and able to push decent frame rates.
Not sure if it's relevant but I will be using the monitor with my console till I get my PC built.

As @Steveyg says. Everything goes hand in hand. There's absolutely no way of speccing or deciding on a monitor until you know either the PC that it's to be paired with, or the budget of the PC that it's to be paired with and other requirements.

Everything is dependent on everything else so all the pieces of the puzzle need to be offered in order to see the picture of what's required.

To know which monitor to go for we need:

Budget
Uses
PC being paired or budget for PC

To know which PC to go for we need:

Budget

Monitor being paired or budget for monitor

If we don't have the above information we would be pulling recommendations out of the sky with absolutely no basis for making them other than personal preference.

Going from your history, if this is the PC you went for then you want to be aiming for 1080p 144hz ish. Any more than 144hz is absolutely pointless and marketing/vlogger hype.

Great you found my previous build, but I will surely change that, although I will order after a couple of months. The major components I am quite sure of are the i5-12600KF and RTX 3060.

As for the basic PC details -
Max Budget - £1600
Uses - Majorly gaming and some virtual machine work
Monitor budget - £250

For this monitor budget, I think I can either go for 1080p 240hz or 1440p 165hz. And to add to all this, I am getting a deal where I can get the Acer monitor mentioned for around £140. That's really tempting.

Assuming a build similar to this then? Which would be really solid to be honest

Personally I wouldn't bother with a 240Hz screen the difference between that and 144Hz barely anyone can tell the difference and by barely anyone I mean like less than 1% of the population but hey the Acer Nitro for £160 would be a really cheap and a good option to pair with the 3060

I would probably save the coin and opt for the 2060. Pocket the savings and get a GPU/Monitor upgrade down the line.

The 3060 is extreme 1080p, no doubt, but it's aimed at development & graphics rather than gaming. It's very expensive for what it is due to this.

I will definitely consider that.

In terms of the monitor, do you think a 1080p VA panel for a 27" screen is good? Should I either look into a 1440p or 1080p at a 24/25" screen?

Optimally 1080p is best around 24"

1440p is the best for around 27"-32"

4K generally anything over 32" is good

As for the type of Panel you have TN which is the worst image quality but can offer very high refresh rates for cheap.

VA Panels offer decent image quality but fast refresh rates at reasonable prices, solid middle ground option

IPS panels offer the best imagine quality but can be more expensive for the higher refresh rates. These are definitely the best though
